Job summary

Crompton Greaves Consumer Electricals seeks an experienced Design & Development professional for Pumps and Motors. You will lead NPD, optimize products for cost, quality and performance, and collaborate with cross-functional teams to deliver robust solutions.

The ideal candidate has 5–6 years of hands-on design experience, proficiency in 3D modelling (Solid Works), GD&T, PFMEA/DFMEA, SAP BOM, PDM/PLM, and strong communication. Field-site visits may be involved.

Qualifications

• 5–6 years of design and development experience in pumps or motors.
• Proficient in 3D modelling (SolidWorks) and 2D drawing.
• Strong knowledge of GD&T and tolerance analysis.
• Experience with PFMEA/DFMEA and quality tools.
• Cost-conscious product development and cross-functional teamwork.

Responsibilities

• Lead new product development and mechanical design for pumps and motors.
• Create and review 3D models, assemblies, and drawings in SolidWorks.
• Ensure IS standards compliance and perform product testing/validation.
• Coordinate with Quality, Sourcing, Manufacturing, and Marketing.
• Drive value engineering and cost optimization during design iterations.

Job description

Role & responsibilities:

• Experience in New product development & mechanical design (preferably in Pump and motor).
• Proficiency in 3D modelling, 3D assembly & 2D drawing preferably in Solid Works software.
• Should have in depth knowledge of GD & T and tolerance stack analysis.
• Should possess Manufacturing process knowledge especially Sand casting, Pressure die casting, Machining, Injection moulding & Assembly process.
• Exposure to PDM and PLM working environment.
• Knowledge of DFMEA & PFMEA.
• Knowledge of Pump selection for different application.
• Knowledge of related IS standards.
• Knowledge of Pump & motor testing and validation.
• Knowledge of Product Benchmarking, Tear down and Product Value analysis.
• Knowledge of Reverse Engineering and Value Engineering/ Cost optimisation.
• Design & development of new products to meet customer needs with optimum cost. (Planning and Execution of NPD & innovation projects)
• Cost optimisation in existing products, Planning and execution of Value Engineering projects.
• Knowledge of Commercial working and techno-commercial feasibility study of products.
• Knowledge of SAP Material Master- Code creation & Bill of Material (BOM) creation.
• Should be able to conduct product testing/validation at vendors for technical clearance for motors/pumps as per IS guidelines.
• Should have adequate knowhow for technical clearance for sourced products.
• Market visits to bridge the product gap and add new products to the product portfolio. Field Visits to understand application and site conditions.
• Reverse engineering/Benchmarking of competition products for value addition/feature mapping in present product portfolio.
• Field complaint analysis-RCA & corrective action. Six Sigma knowledge for analysis & resolution of quality issues at Test bed & at field. Use of analytical tools.
• Preparation of the Instruction manuals, Product specification sheets, Validation reports, technical booklets for new products, SOP/test plan for testing of Motors and Pumps.
• Should be well versed with Process audits (SQP) for (Inhouse & supplier), ISO audits.
• Interact with cross functional team such as Quality, Sourcing, manufacturing, Industrialization & marketing.

Preferred candidate profile:

• 5-6 years of experience in Design & Development of Pumps / Motors or similar industry.
• Proficiency in MS Office tools.
• Good interpersonal, analytical & communication skills.
• Enthusiastic and good team player.
