MEAN Stack Developer

Job summary

Distro is seeking an experienced software engineer to own front-end and back-end code across modern web apps. You will leverage 5+ years of JavaScript/TypeScript, build SPAs with AngularJS, React or Vue, and work on Node.js/Express services.

You will collaborate in an agile team, write unit tests, review code, and help set engineering standards while mentoring others. Docker on Linux/OSX experience and NoSQL databases are a plus.

Qualifications

• 5+ years JS/TS experience at expert level.
• Experience building and maintaining complex SPAs with modern frameworks (AngularJS, React, Vue.js).
• Strong knowledge of JS, HTML, CSS/SCSS.
• Experience with RESTful services and/or microservices (Node.js, Express).
• Strong in NodeJS development.
• Cloud experience (AWS, Azure) a plus.
• Experience with AI-assisted coding tools (GitHub Copilot, Claude Code).
• Experience with Agile, CI, TDD, and Git version control.
• Experience with Docker under Linux or OSX.
• Experience with NoSQL or PICK database.

Responsibilities

• Perform complex code development, maintenance and debugging.
• Perform unit tests on assigned work.
• Prepare technical documentation spanning multiple lifecycle phases.
• Lead code reviews.
• Develop and adhere to software engineering standards across the lifecycle.
• Lead design efforts to address security, performance, data integrity and scalability.
• Review key requirements to ensure a cohesive, sound product.
• Collaborate with QA to ensure test strategy covers all aspects of the project.

Technical Skills:

• 5+ years of JavaScript/Typescript experience at an expert-level proficiency is a must
• Experience building and maintaining complex, single-page web-apps, using modern JavaScript frameworks & libraries (AngularJS, React and Vue.js)
• In-depth knowledge of JavaScript, HTML, CSS, SCSS and related technologies.
• Experience with RESTful web services and/or microservices (especially Node.js, Express)
• Strong in NodeJS development
• Cloud experience (AWS, azure) is a plus
• Practical experience using AI‑assisted coding tools such as GitHub Copilot and Claude Code to accelerate development and improve engineering workflows.
• Working with agile development methodologies, continuous integration, test-driven development and Git version control.
• Experience with Docker under Linux or OSX
• Experience with NoSQL or multi-value (PICK) database

Desired Experience and Skills:

• Bachelors/Advanced degree (or experience equivalent) with 10 + years of software Industry experience in product design, architecture, or support experience.
• Experience with legacy modernization is a big plus
