Job summary

Mercedes-Benz Research and Development India Private Limited in Bengaluru is seeking a Senior Technical Program Manager to lead cloud-native software efforts for Connected Car initiatives. You will drive technology leadership, coordinate with global product owners, and coach teams on agile practices.

The role requires 12–15 years of software experience with a CS/IT engineering degree, plus 3+ years in leading cloud-native teams and SAFe alignment.

Qualifications

  • 12 to 15 years of software experience with a Bachelor's or Master’s degree in Computer Science or an equivalent field.
  • 3+ years of experience in managing software development teams for cloud-native applications and platforms.
  • Certifications in Cloud computing from Microsoft, AWS, or Google, and Scrum/DevOps/SAFe knowledge.
  • Good understanding of Agile and DevOps practices.
  • Experience working in an international context with diverse geographies.
  • Knowledge of SDLC, coding standards, source control, build processes, testing and operations.
  • Experience in career development of direct reports through coaching and mentoring.

Responsibilities

  • Provide technical leadership for cloud-native product development and IoT platforms.
  • Guide teams to adopt customer-centric practices and data-driven metrics.
  • Scale Agile practices (SAFe) and define program increments with stakeholders.
  • Mentor team members and foster a positive, international team culture.
  • Ensure adherence to organizational standards and manage operational topics.

Senior Technical Program Manager
Key Responsibilities
  • Technology Leadership: Continuously watch and learn from industry best practices around Cloud & Connectivity. Identify and integrate the best tools, platforms, and practices for developing applications and platforms for complex IoT use cases of Connected Car.
  • Product Management: Guide team members to adopt a customer‑centric approach and define metrics for data‑driven development. Coordinate closely with global product owners and stakeholders to ensure successful product adoption.
  • Program Management: Implement agile practices at scale (e.g., SAFe) to define program increments, synchronisation, and cadence for delivering best‑in‑class software. Act as an agile coach and mentor the team on best practices.
  • People Development: Focus on the continuous development of team members through technical training, new software development practices, team building, and working in an international context. Anchor a positive team culture and provide continuous feedback and coaching.
  • Operational Excellence: Ensure adherence to organisational standards and manage operational topics relevant to the organisational context.
Required Skills and Experience
  • Technical Skills: Rich experience with production‑level development and operations on AWS or Azure Cloud. Proficiency in automation, configuration, and provisioning infrastructure‑as‑code using Pulumi, Terraform, ARM. Experience in developing microservices with Java and/or Golang. Proficiency with CI/CD for deployment, management, and monitoring of applications.
  • Experience: 12 to 15 years of software experience with a Bachelor's/Master’s degree in Computer Science or equivalent. 3+ years of experience in managing software development teams for cloud‑native applications and platforms.
  • Certifications: Relevant training and certification in areas of Cloud computing from Microsoft, AWS, Google Cloud. Scrum Agile Practices, DevOps, Scaled Agile Frameworks.
  • Methodologies: Good understanding of Agile and DevOps practices.
  • International Experience: Work experience in an international context with a product development mindset. Prior experience working with multiple stakeholders across diverse geographies.
  • Software Engineering Practices: Knowledge of professional software engineering practices and best practices for the full software development life cycle, including coding standards, code reviews, source control management, build processes, testing, and operations.
  • People Management: Experience in career development of direct reports through coaching and mentoring. Handling compensation management and appraisal discussions for a diverse team.
Educational Qualifications
  • Bachelor's / Master’s degree in Engineering disciplines such as Computer Science, Information Technology, or related fields.
  • Additional certifications (if any): Agile, DevOps, etc.
Preferred Qualifications (Good to Have)
  • Domain knowledge in automotive engineering or related fields.
  • Exposure to international projects and global stakeholder management.
  • Experience with Daimler systems or similar global platforms.
