Job summary

Applied Materials, Inc. in Bangalore is seeking a Senior Sourcing Specialist to drive supplier selection, cost estimation, and lead time management for NPI/pilot projects.

You will collaborate with cross-functional teams to define sourcing plans, utilize supplier matrices, negotiate terms, and ensure on-time delivery of critical components. The role requires experience in cost modeling, dual sourcing, and BOM reading, with strong communication and presentation skills to report progress to

Qualifications

• Prior sourcing, negotiation, dual sourcing, and supplier management experience.
• Proficient with MS Office; Excel is a must.
• Knowledge of manufacturing methods and cost structures.
• Ability to read and interpret BOMs.
• Self-starter with minimal supervision.
• Excellent people and presentation skills.

Responsibilities

• Initiate and manage RFQ, lead time, and should-cost requests.
• Quote using supplier matrix; negotiate and award to suppliers.
• Drive dual sourcing to ensure supply continuity.
• Define sourcing strategies for NPI/Pilot projects.
• Manage supplier qualification per inspection requirements.
• Analyze cost roll-ups to meet target product costs.
• Resolve cost discrepancies and present to executives.
• Develop supplier selection for parts/modules.
• Ensure smooth transition from NPI to volume manufacturing.

Key Responsibilities

• Responsible for initiating and managing RFQ, lead time, should cost (Cost estimation) request assigned by internal stakeholders.
• Able to utilize existing supplier matrix for quoting, negotiate and award business to supplier.
• Drive dual sourcing to ensure supply continuity, understand long-lead drivers and develop lead time mitigation strategies.
• Collaborate with cross-functional teams to define sourcing strategies/ plans for NPI/ Pilot projects.
• Responsible for supplier part qualification per inspection requirements for components identified as critical parts.
• Ability to understand multi-level BOM, read drawings, special process/ specifications and communicate with suppliers.
• Identify make vs. buy opportunities and drive alignment/decision with key stakeholders Using software tools, perform regular cost roll-up and analyze cost performance to drive corrective action as required to achieve product cost target.
• Responsible for resolving discrepancies between cost targets and quoted cost, create and deliver presentations to program executives and CFT stakeholders.
• Develop supplier selection process for piece parts and outsourced modules/ assemblies, identify supply chain risks supporting sourcing decisions.
• Ensure smooth product transition from NPI to volume manufacturing.

Functional Knowledge

Should have prior sourcing, negotiation, dual sourcing, and supplier management experience. Proficient with MS Office. Excel is a must Knowledge of manufacturing methods & commodities as related to product and cost structure. Ability to read and interpret BOM’s. Must be self-starter and be able to operate independent of day-to-day supervision. Excellent people and presentation skills.
