Job summary

Accenture in Bengaluru seeks a Materials Engineer to develop, select and optimize aerospace materials. You will analyze properties, design for durability and efficiency, and oversee testing and QA throughout the lifecycle to meet performance, safety and sustainability goals.

You will apply metallurgical know-how on aluminium, steels and aerospace alloys; manage processes from casting to additive manufacturing; conduct tensile, fatigue and corrosion testing; ensure compliance with ASTM/ISO/AMS,

Qualifications

  • Metallurgical and materials engineering background with focus on aerospace applications.
  • Familiarity with corrosion, wear, and thermal properties analysis.
  • Experience applying ASTM, ISO, AMS standards in aerospace materials.

Responsibilities

  • Apply metallurgical knowledge of aluminium, steel, titanium, nickel alloys, and both ferrous and non‑ferrous metals.
  • Manage material processes including casting, forging, rolling, sheet metal processing, extrusion, welding, surface technology, and additive manufacturing.
  • Conduct product testing and characterization such as tensile, compression, bearing, impact, fatigue, fracture toughness, fatigue crack growth, R‑curve, hardness, metallography, NDT, and corrosion analysis.
  • Perform statistical analysis and maintain accurate data records using Excel.
  • Read and interpret 2‑D part drawings and identify process and product risks during feasibility reviews.
  • Ensure compliance with industry specifications (ASTM, ISO, AMS, etc.) and qualification requirements.
  • Collaborate with manufacturing and surface treatment processes, including chemical processes such as anodizing and coating.
  • Conduct literature research and communicate findings effectively.
  • Stay current with emerging technologies and apply them to material development.

Project Role Description

Develop, select, and optimize materials to ensure components and systems meet performance, safety, and sustainability goals. Analyze material properties, design for durability and efficiency, and oversee testing and quality assurance throughout the lifecycle. Solve challenges such as corrosion, wear, and thermal behavior while collaborating across engineering disciplines to deliver practical, cost‑effective solutions.

Professional Technical Skills
  • Proficiency in AD Commercial Aerospace.
  • Experience with material characterization techniques and testing protocols relevant to aerospace applications.
  • Strong understanding of material behavior under various environmental and operational conditions.
  • Ability to analyze and interpret data related to corrosion, wear, and thermal properties.
  • Familiarity with industry standards and regulations governing aerospace materials.
  • Excellent problem‑solving skills to develop innovative and cost‑effective material solutions.
  • Masters or Bachelor with research domain experience in Materials Metallurgical Engineering.
  • Good experience in MnPE activities (3‑5 years) and relevant exposure to aerospace material and manufacturing methodologies.
Qualifications
  • Minimum 3 years of professional experience.
  • Minimum 15 years of full‑time education (equivalent to relevant degree or extensive training).
  • Background in metallurgical and materials engineering, with a focus on both academic and industrial application.
