Qualifications

• Educational qualifications preferred: Diploma / B.E. /M.E. Metallurgical/Polymer/Surface Coating Engineering.
• Experience with materials testing and coating processes is desirable.
• Knowledge of color matching and hue testing (Munsell) preferred.

Responsibilities

• Release of polymer, painted and chrome plated critical parts with ownership for new projects and model year changes.
• Coordinate colour harmony by aligning BIW and supplier painting processes.
• Prepare and release for colour harmony via Munsell hue test with VW internal and supplier representatives.
• Manage colour master panels for new launches and series vehicles.
• Ensure materials technology comments for AEKO/ECN related to coating and material changes.
• Maintain testing equipment and ensure readiness for internal audits and external proficiency tests.

• Release of polymer, painted and chrome plated critical purchase parts like Bumper, Logo, ORVM, Door Handle, Chrome nameplate etc. with complete ownership for new projects /model year changes after testing and verification with drawing standards in defined timelines to have successful launch in Asian Region.
• Release of new colour and striving to achieve whole car colour harmony by aligning painted BIW and supplier painting processes in same quadrant.
• To release VW internal and supplier representatives for colour harmony via Munsell hue test.
• Colour master management for new launches and series vehicles.
• Responsible for Materials Technology comments for acceptance/rejection of AEKO/ECN for topics related to material/ coating.
• Testing and maintenance equipment required for testing with complete ownership of the activity.
• To support end customer satisfaction by carrying out failure analysis of parts and driving materials specific actions.
• To upkeep and upgrade knowledge of various existing and new materials, material properties, manufacturing processes know-how for various parts.
• To maintain proficiency through various proficiency test with other group laboratories and external institutes, handling of various equipment, upgrade skill required for the position.

Primary Responsibilities

Efficiency

• 1.1 To analyze and release new projects and series parts as per defined time plan through LIMS to support achieving project timeline
• 1.2 To assess supplier process for improvement and correction in case of process problems
• 1.3 Planning DVP with suppliers.
• 1.4 To review improvement trial parts from suppliers
• 1.5 To support vehicle audit for defect analysis
• 1.6 To ensure individual Scrap management & 5S in office area

Quality

• 2.1 Drive and release exterior color harmony of whole car (series and new launch)
• 2.2 To achieve proficiency in the various testing methods
• 2.3 Planning, Execution and Monitoring LIMS of painted parts.
• 2.4 Series monitoring of parts to ensure parts quality as per standard
• 2.5 To review and decide acceptance/rejection of AEKO/ECN for change in material/ coating topic
• 2.6 To release VW Internal and Supplier representative for color harmony via Munsell Eye Test
• 2.7 To train supplier tester to enhance testing skills

Safety

• 3.1 Responsible to adhere safety instructions, chemicals handling and use of PPE’s
• 3.2 Responsible to upkeep knowledge of environmental policy, emergency contact numbers
• 3.3 Responsible for disposal of tested parts, used chemicals, papers

Deliverable

• 4.1 Responsible to achieve department defined Key Performance Indicators
• 4.2 Responsible to adhere defined analysis processes
• 4.3 Responsible to achieve and maintain proficiency

Organization

• 5.1 Analyze Field Failure Painted & Chrome plated parts and give on time feedback
• 5.2 Support Development, R&D and Purchase for new development initiatives, proposals
• 5.3 Establish and maintain network with the other VW and Skoda plants for developing working relation within Konzern
• 5.4 Manage and distribute Colour master panel
• 5.5 Develop secondary visual master panels in co-ordination with ME-Paintshop

QMS

• 6.1 Preparation of process standard, work instruction/guidelines and format
• 6.2 Readiness for internal & external audit
• 6.3 Process validation and monthly tracking of indicators ,equipment
