Job summary

Tag is seeking a skilled Matchmove & Rotomation Specialist to join our Creative team in Bengaluru. You will deliver precise camera tracking, object tracking, and rotomation to integrate CG with live-action footage, supporting high-end productions.

The role requires a Bachelor’s or Diploma in Animation or related field with 4–15 years of experience in Matchmove, Layout, or Rotomation. Familiarity with the complete VFX pipeline and strong attention to detail are essential.

• 4–15 years of experience in Matchmove, Layout, or Rotomation within VFX, Feature Film, or High-End Episodic production.
• Experience on Hollywood feature films, premium episodic series, or internationally recognized VFX productions.

Responsibilities

• Create accurate camera, object, and body tracking solutions for live-action footage.
• Reconstruct 3D scenes from plate photography to support CG integration.
• Solve complex tracking challenges including handheld cameras, lens distortion, motion blur, rolling shutter, and occlusions.
• Generate production-ready camera solves meeting studio accuracy standards.

What are we looking for?

We're looking for a skilled Matchmove & Rotomation Specialist to join our Creative team. In this role, you'll play a critical part in the CGpipeline by delivering precise camera tracking, object tracking, and rotomation that seamlessly integrates computer-generated elements into live-action footage.

Key Responsibilities

Matchmove :

• Create accurate camera, object, and body tracking solutions for live-action footage.
• Reconstruct 3D scenes from plate photography to support CG integration.
• Solve complex tracking challenges involving handheld cameras, lens distortion, motion blur, rolling shutter, and occlusions.
• Generate production-ready camera solves that meet studio accuracy standards.
• Validate tracking quality before handing assets to other departments.

Rotomation :

• Create accurate character and object rotomation based on live-action performances.
• Align CG assets to plate photography for animation, lighting, FX, and compositing.
• Produce clean body, prop, and vehicle animation that matches live-action movement.
• Refine animation to ensure seamless integration between live-action and CG elements.
• Work with CG teams to maintain consistency across shot sequences.
• Prepare cameras, tracking data, geometry, and scene layouts for CG departments.
• Create proxy geometry and basic scene setups where required.
• Organize project files according to studio pipeline standards.
• Ensure assets are technically accurate and production-ready.

Technical Skills

• Strong understanding of camera tracking, object tracking, and scene reconstruction.
• Experience with body tracking and rotomation for characters, props, creatures, and vehicles.
• Solid understanding of camera optics, lens distortion, focal length, perspective, and real-world scale.
• Ability to solve complex tracking challenges involving motion blur, reflections, occlusions, and difficult plate photography.
• Good understanding of animation principles and human movement.
• Familiarity with the complete VFX production pipeline and downstream workflows.
• Strong analytical thinking and problem-solving skills with excellent attention to detail.

Software Experience

• Autodesk Maya
• Foundry Nuke (basic understanding)
• Mocha Pro (good to have)

Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree or Diploma in Animation, Motion Graphics, Multimedia, Visual Communication, Design, or a related field.
• 4–15 years of experience in Matchmove, Layout, or Rotomation within VFX, Feature Film, or High-End Episodic production.
• Experience working on Hollywood feature films, premium episodic series, or internationally recognized VFX productions.
• Strong demo reel showcasing camera tracking, object tracking, and rotomation work.

Nice to Have

• Experience with LiDAR scans, photogrammetry, or survey data.
• Knowledge of USD, Alembic, and modern VFX production workflows.
• Basic scripting knowledge (Python or MEL) for workflow automation.
• Familiarity with Unreal Engine virtual production workflows.
• Experience supporting creature tracking and complex multi-camera sequences.
