Job summary

Maersk in Mumbai, India seeks a maritime professional to drive upkeep and preparation of the Cargo Securing Manual and related lashing gear inventory, and to support vessel certification, class surveys, and audits.

You will assist with Drug and Alcohol testing of crew, attend to administrative duties under the Safety and Nautical Manager, and coordinate with stakeholders to ensure timely surveys, certificates, and life boat services.

Responsibilities

  • Upkeep and preparation of the Cargo Securing Manual and its approval; manage lashing gear inventory.
  • Support vessels on certification, class surveys and audits; lifeboat/life raft servicing; drug and alcohol testing of crew.
  • Contribute to daily admin duties under Safety and Nautical Manager supervision.
  • Support stock taking for Cargo Securing Manual and lashing gear.
  • Process Cargo Securing Manual: prep, approval submission, and distribution of plans to vessels.
  • Fleet performance reporting including safety statistics for personnel and assets.
  • Generate statistics and data analysis for MFMT stakeholders.

Job description

Has responsibility for driving upkeep and preparation of Cargo Securing Manual and its approval and lashing gear inventory.

Support vessels in matters related to certification, Class Surveys and Audits, lifeboat and liferaft servicing, Drug and Alcohol testing of crew onboard, apart from other tasks assigned by Manager.

Contribute as required in the daily attendance of administrative responsibilities under supervision of Safety and Nautical Manager:

Support vessels on matters related to Cargo securing manual/lashing gear Stock taking.

Process Cargo Securing Manual which includes preparation, submission for approval, transmission of approved Plans to the vessels.

Fleet Performance reporting including statistics for Safety (Personal & Asset).

Generating Statistics and Data Analysis for varying stake holders supporting MFMT

Certificate Management of all owned Container Vessels for Maersk.

Monitor and initiate annual statutory surveys and External Audits (MLC/ISM/ISPS) with Class Societies/ Flag Administration for endorsement of certificates.

Arrange annual certificates for vessel (COI, GMDSS shore maintenance, Radio servicing, BCLC & WRC with blue card).

Arrange annual/as agreed Life boat & life raft services for owned Container Vessels with Maker Approved Service providers.

Arrange or assist in any new statutory requirements as instructed.

Arrange unannounced Drug and Alcohol Test.

In general
  • Needs to have a good understanding of ship operation, preferably from Container ship operation.
  • Good understanding of Microsoft Office tools,
  • An important criteria is experience in managing multiple stakeholders with different priorities, and a good understanding of business impact from the different activities
  • Effective English communication and stakeholder management, good technical communication skills to interact with stakeholders and vessel crew via available communication medium (email, telephone, video conference, etc.)
  • Flexibility to adjust to work timings as per the business requirements
  • Good Organizational and analytical skill
  • Independent, systematic and detail-oriented worker
  • Enthusiastic and motivated person
  • Must have a positive and pro-active attitude
