Job summary

FLSmidth is seeking a Manufacturing Process Engineer in India to lead new product development, MBOM planning and Lean improvements across fabrication, painting and assembly lines.

You will design fixtures and tools, develop standard work, PFMEA and SOPs while coordinating with suppliers and internal teams to drive productivity and quality improvements.

Qualifications

• Education in mechanical/production/electrical engineering from a reputed university.
• Experience interpreting BOMs and drawings with GD&T understanding.
• Experience designing capital assets and managing integration.
• Thorough knowledge of fabrication, welding, machining, and assembly processes.
• Hands-on ERP, IoT and MES experience with strong communication skills.

Responsibilities

• Execute NPD and proto-pre series development of parts and coordinate with agencies to meet targets.
• Plan MBOM for green/brown field projects, validate and route production versions in ERP, procure/install/commission new MHE/machinery.
• Design jigs, fixtures, templates, lifting devices and assembly aids for productivity and quality gains.
• Create process plans, PFMEA, control plans and SOPs for fabrication, paint and assembly; define cycle times.
• Improve productivity via process improvements, reduce cycle time and eliminate non-value-added steps.
• Improve quality by Lean tools: 5S, Kaizen, VA/NVA, Poka-yoke, OPL, etc.
• Support cost-saving validation in sourcing projects.
• Install/commission machine integration and implement PLC programming changes; enhance manufacturing systems and test equipment.
• Assist operations in utilization planning aligned with business goals.

Manufacturing Process Engineer

Your responsibilities

• Execute NPD (New Product Development), Proto-Pre series development of parts, Co-coordinating & supporting with various agencies to achieve scheduled target


• Executing Green/Brown field Projects MBOM Planning, Validation & Routing production version in ERP, MBOM Creation & Change Matrix New MHE/Machinery Procurement, Installation & Commissioning Implementing Capex projects


• Design and Development of jigs, fixtures & templates, lifting devices & assembly aids for Productivity & quality improvements.


• Create Process plan, PFMEA, Control plan, Standard Work Instructions (SOP) for various manufacturing processes of Fabrication, Paint & Assembly Time study through prevailing techniques - Define standard Cycle time for the fabrication & Assembly parts


• Productivity improvements by process improvements, Cycle time reduction, identifying & Reduction/Elimination of NVA


• Product Quality improvement by improvising process through continuous improvements using Lean tools 5S, Kaizen, VA-NVA study, Poka-yoke, OPL etc.


• In sourcing project for cost saving idea validation


• Executing Installation & Commissioning of machine integration, programming changes to PLCs, Manufacturing systems and Test equipment


• Support operations team in developing utilization plans that aligns with business objectives

What you bring

• Experience with reading and interpreting engineering Bill of Materials (BOM) Ability to read and interpret manufacturing drawings with understanding of geometric tolerancing.


• Experience in designing requirements, managing, integration and implementation of Capital assets.


• Thorough knowledge on Fabrication, Welding, Machining & Assembly processes.


• Experience in CAD software (AutoCAD, SolidWorks etc.,).


• Thorough knowledge in manufacturing concepts (Lean manufacturing, Tooling Controls etc.,).


• Hands on experience in ERPs, IoTs, MES.


• Good verbal and written communication skills.


• Education Qualification Diploma / Bachelor’s degree in mechanical / production / electrical engineering from a reputed University.


• Experience 8 - 12 years of experience in Manufacturing Engineering / Process Engineering / Technical in Heavy Equipment Industries.
