Job summary

A prominent global mobility firm seeks an experienced individual for a tax compliance role focusing on Japan and US tax regulations. The ideal candidate will manage tax processes for employees on international assignments, ensuring adherence to tax laws while minimizing risks. Qualifications

  • 6+ years in Japan or US Individual Taxation in a recognized firm or Big 4.
  • Signer of Japan or US Individual Income tax returns for a minimum of 18‑24 months.
  • US CPA or Enrolled Agent is an added advantage.
  • US CPA or Enrolled Agent would be an added advantage.
  • Excellent communication skills and experience in team management.

Responsibilities

  • Review/Sign all types of Japan/US individual income tax returns.
  • Manage the engagement team and set performance measurements.
  • Identify and lead new services for the service line.
  • Set performance measurements and ensure targets are met.
  • Identify and lead new services for the service line at the VVN.
  • Develop, mentor, and supervise team members.
  • Demonstrate leadership and executive presence.
  • Communicate progress and project status to stakeholders.
  • Adhere to confidentiality, data privacy, client acceptance and engagement letters.
  • Adhere to practice protocol and internal processes.

Job Summary

In this position, your role is essential in upholding compliance with tax regulations and optimizing tax processes for employees on international assignments. This position is key in handling the tax consequences of global mobility and facilitating a smooth transition for employees across different countries. Your main objective is to reduce tax‑related risks and costs, while ensuring that both the organization and its employees adhere to relevant tax laws.

Job Description
  • Review/Sign all types of Japan/US individual income tax returns.
  • Demonstrate a high level of proficiency of tax technical knowledge.
  • Manage the engagement team.
  • Set performance measurements and ensure that performance goals, including engagement economics, turnaround time and quality targets are met.
  • Identify and lead new services that the service line can perform at the VVN.
  • Develop, mentor, and supervise team members.
  • Demonstrate leadership and executive presence.
  • Communicate progress and project status to all stakeholders.
  • Knowledge of the firm policies related to confidentiality and data privacy, client acceptance and engagement letters, tax return preparer guidelines and knowledge‑sharing.
  • Adhere to practice protocol and other internal processes consistently.
Qualification
  • Commerce Graduate/Postgraduate, MBA.
  • Experience: 6+ years in Japan or US Individual Taxation in a recognized firm or Big 4.
  • Should be a signer of Japan or US Individual Income tax returns for a minimum of 18‑24 months.
  • A US CPA or Enrolled Agent would be an added advantage.
  • Excellent communication skills.
  • Experience in team management and responsible for quality control within the team.
  • Possess sound technical knowledge and excellent communication skills, along with analytical thinking ability.
  • Should have experience of working closely with foreign offices and clients.
  • Capability to guide and support team members with technical stands and queries.
