What You Will Do

The Manager, Third-Party Risk Management (TPRM) – Japan is responsible for ensuring the TPRM end-to-end process is effectively executed according to enterprise Policy, Standards and SOPs, with primary responsibility for supporting Prudential’s Japan operations and vendor risk assessments across all Japan businesses. Based in PFI India in Gurugram, this role will lead a team of TPRM risk assessors who will primarily support Japan business engagements, including vendor onboarding due diligence, ongoing monitoring, issue identification, evidence review, and escalation of vendor control findings. The manager will report directly to the Vice President of Enterprise Vendor Management and have supervisory responsibilities. The candidate will be charged with continuously monitoring the process for effective execution while working closely with Japan Procurement, Japan TPRM/Vendor Governance, PFI India leadership, and key risk domain groups to evolve and optimize the process to most effectively mitigate vendor risk. The manager will need to have a full understanding of the intricacies of the overall TPRM process and be responsible for hiring, training, and managing assessors who will support Japan-related execution. This candidate will represent level 2 escalation of vendor findings that can’t be resolved by the assessor. Candidate will be challenged to optimize team performance, improve cycle time, increase throughput, reduce handoffs and increase one touch assessments among other key performance indicators. This role will help guide the execution of policy governance, oversee routine monitoring activities, manage documentation workflows, and synthesize findings into actionable insights for senior leadership level reporting, including Japan business and enterprise risk stakeholders.

The position plays a key role in strengthening the company’s global governance model as it relates to vendor risk mitigation, with a primary focus on enabling consistent, transparent, and enterprise-aligned TPRM execution for Prudential’s Japan businesses.

What You Can Expect
Key Responsibilities
  • Own execution of the end-to-end TPRM process within PFI India for vendor engagements and ongoing monitoring activities that primarily support Prudential’s Japan operations and Japan business entities.
  • Supervise vendor control assessors who support Japan-related vendor risk assessments, including effective processing, review and challenge of vendor control evidence across multiple risk domains including but not limited to: IT Security, Cyber, Privacy, Compliance, Anti-Bribery, Financial and Operational.
  • Collaborate with Japan Procurement, Japan TPRM/Vendor Governance, PFI India leadership, and risk domain leaders to establish and maintain appropriate testing of vendor controls aligned to enterprise standards and Japan business needs.
  • Represent subject matter expertise on the overall TPRM process for Japan-supported engagements, including workflows, tools, integrations, decision matrices, issue escalation, and evidence review expectations.
  • Support the creation, maintenance, and enhancement of TPRM policies, standards, SOPs, job aids, and training materials needed to support Japan business execution from the PFI India location.
  • Provide authoritative guidance on control interpretation, issue creation, policy interpretation, and issue resolution for Japan-related vendor assessments.
  • Develop and oversee monitoring methodologies for assessors supporting Japan vendor due diligence and ongoing monitoring activities.
  • Review monitoring results and analytics to identify trends, gaps, risks, and improvement opportunities across Japan vendor assessment activity.
  • Prepare executive ready reporting packages for senior leadership, Japan business stakeholders, and risk committees.
  • Represent GSP in cross functional working groups focused on Japan TPRM governance, operating model execution, monitoring, and process improvement.
  • Supervise and mentor a small team responsible for executing vendor control assessments primarily for Japan business engagements.
  • Collaborate globally to ensure Japan-supported execution is consistent with enterprise TPRM standards and aligned across U.S., Asia, EMEA, and Latin America operations.
Qualifications

What you will bring:

  • Bachelor’s degree required; advanced degree or certifications preferred.
  • 6–8 years of experience in Procurement, Global Sourcing, Third-party Risk Management, Risk & Controls, or vendor governance, preferably in a global or Japan-supporting operating model.
  • Strong understanding of vendor lifecycle processes and policy governance practices.
  • Experience in vendor control assessment process including but not limited to testing controls related to IT Security, Privacy, Cyber Security, Compliance, Anti-Bribery and Anti-Corruption, Financial, etc.
  • Experience developing or managing governance frameworks in regulated industries.
  • Experience supporting vendor risk activities across geographies or business entities; experience supporting Japan operations, Asia-based stakeholders, or regulated financial services businesses preferred.
  • Strong analytical and problem-solving‑ skills with the ability to translate data into insights.
  • Experience overseeing or coaching junior team members.
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills; strong PowerPoint skills preferred.
  • Fluent in Japanese, with the ability to speak, read, and interpret business, risk, and vendor documentation in Japanese.
  • Ability to work effectively across time zones and partner with Japan-based stakeholders, PFI India leadership, enterprise risk domain teams, and vendor contacts.
  • Ability to work effectively in global, matrixed environments.
  • Fluent in AI-enabled environments, using approved tools responsibly to improve throughput, accuracy, and insight while adhering to Prudential’s risk and governance standards. At a minimum, all GSP employees should be able to leverage AI tools to draft, extract, validate, and optimize content that is applicable to their respective function and utilize AI tools to consistently create new content, innovation, and idea generation.
