Outcomes is seeking a highly experienced Technical Lead / Engineering Manager to lead the development, support, and modernization of critical legacy platforms. This role is a hands-on engineering position (80%) with responsibility for technical leadership and delivery oversight (20%).

The ideal candidate will have deep expertise in C/C++, Java, Spring Framework, PostgreSQL, c-treeDB (FairCom), and Oracle, along with experience leading engineering teams and driving technical excellence.

Qualifications

• 10+ years of software engineering experience.
• Past roles as Technical Lead, Lead Engineer, or Engineering Manager with hands-on development.

Responsibilities

• Hands-on design, development, enhancement, and support of enterprise applications built on C/C++ and Java.
• Drive modernization of legacy platforms while ensuring stability and performance.
• Perform code reviews, debugging, root cause analysis, and performance tuning.
• Design and develop scalable APIs and backend services.
• Optimize databases, application performance, and system reliability.
• Participate in architecture, design, and technology decisions.
• Lead small engineering team and provide technical direction.
• Mentor engineers through reviews and career development.
• Collaborate with Product, QA, and Architecture teams to ensure delivery.
• Drive engineering best practices, quality standards, and continuous improvement initiatives.

Key Responsibilities

Hands-on Engineering (80%)

• Design, develop, enhance, and support enterprise applications built on C/C++ and Java.
• Drive modernization of legacy platforms while ensuring stability and performance.
• Perform code reviews, debugging, root cause analysis, and performance tuning.
• Design and develop scalable APIs and backend services.
• Optimize databases, application performance, and system reliability.
• Participate in architecture, design, and technology decisions.

Leadership & Team Management (20%)

• Lead a small engineering team and provide technical direction.
• Mentor and coach engineers through design reviews, code reviews, and career development.
• Collaborate with Product, QA, and Architecture teams to ensure successful delivery.
• Drive engineering best practices, quality standards, and continuous improvement initiatives.

Required Technical Skills

• Strong expertise in C and C++
• Strong experience in Core Java, Spring Framework, Spring Boot
• Experience supporting and modernizing legacy enterprise applications
• Expertise with PostgreSQL, c-treeDB (FairCom), and Oracle Database
• Strong SQL, PL/SQL, query optimization, and database performance tuning
• Experience with REST APIs, Object-Oriented Design, Design Patterns, System Design, Multithreading, and Concurrent Programming
• Strong Linux/Unix administration and Shell Scripting skills
• Experience with Git, Maven/Gradle, CI/CD pipelines, and DevOps practices

Preferred Skills

• Experience leading engineering teams in a technical lead capacity.
• Cloud experience (Azure and/or AWS).
• Healthcare technology or product engineering experience.
