Qualifications

  • Bachelor’s degree preferred.
  • Qualified Accountant (ACA, AMCA, ACCA) highly regarded.
  • Experience in financial audits with external auditors.
  • Strong knowledge of accounting principles and IFRS/US GAAP.
  • Advanced MS Excel skills.
  • Ability to manage multiple tasks in a fast-paced environment.

Responsibilities

  • Provides support to the Director, Statutory COE for financial and statutory reporting in preparation of financial statements and audit requests.
  • Maintains bridge files to manage differences between US GAAP and local accounting frameworks or IFRS.
  • Supports year-end accounting and liaises with Mastercard departments to resolve issues.
  • Supports SOX compliance and control improvements related to financial reporting.
  • Assists with external audit processes and coordination with auditors (KPMG, PWC).
  • Resolves audit data issues and maintains client-service focus across deliverables.
  • Maintains relationships with external and internal auditors and advisors.

Position Overview

Join this exciting team to build and lead the way in global statutory reporting for Mastercard. Manage a team of finance professionals supporting the external audits of Mastercard companies worldwide. The ideal candidate is a self-starter with a finance background in statutory accounting, can build relationships with cross-functional teams, contribute to the finance team and consistently produces exceptional results.

The ideal candidate is a self-starter with a finance background, the ability to build relationships with cross-functional teams, contribute to the finance team and consistently produce exceptional results. This role is ideal for a person with a strong technical accounting background, good analytical skills and an ability to drive projects through to completion. The critical components are energy and intellect, combined with a “can do” attitude.

Role & Responsibilities
  • Provides support for the Director, Statutory COE relating to financial and statutory reporting in the preparation of financial statements, audit requests, planning of workforce, liaising with external providers and meeting audit deadlines
  • Maintains appropriate bridge files to administer and manage the differences between US GAAP and local accounting frameworks or IFRS – proactively works with the controllership and GBSC teams to update both US GAAP and local accounting records accurately and on a timely basis
  • Support year end accounting and engage with various departments within Mastercard to ensure any issues are resolved.
  • Supports SOX compliance and assisting with control improvements related to financial reporting
  • Assists with the external audit process and proactively works with key stakeholders and partners such as the GBSC, controlling, KPMG and PWC (auditors)
  • Assists with managing and resolving audit data and issues
  • Supports the controllership relationship and applies a client-service mentality towards all deliverables
  • Supports the relationship with external and internal auditors as well as external advisors/ consultants e.g. KPMG
All About You

The ideal candidate would have:

  • Bachelor’s degree preferred. Qualified Accountant (ACA, AMCA, ACCA)
  • Demonstrates comprehensive knowledge of accounting principles, financial statements and financial reporting requirements and consistently delivers accurate work on a timely basis
  • Experience in financial audits, working with external auditors and consultants
  • Driven by innovation and making sustainable and meaningful changes to processes
  • Ability to deliver results in a fast-paced environment with a sense of urgency & accuracy
  • Ability to manage multiple activities in a condensed timeframe
  • Excellent communication and presentation skills - experience creating and delivering presentations for training events
  • Advanced MS Excel skills essential
  • Must have strong attention to detail and the ability to work independently through obstacles
  • Experience in statutory reporting with IFRS and US GAAP experience
  • Oracle/Hyperion skills beneficial
