Job summary

Standard Chartered India is seeking a legal collections professional to ensure compliant collection activities, oversee litigation actions, and drive timely recoveries in the Guaranteed Loan portfolio. The role involves managing law firms and vendors, with governance oversight per bank standards.

You will review performance metrics, support quality control, and participate in risk and regulatory reporting to stakeholders across the group and country.

Qualifications

• MS Office proficiency for document production and reporting.
• Strong command of English, both written and verbal.
• Legal background with exposure to litigation and court processes.
• Effective communication and negotiation skills for stakeholder management.

Responsibilities

• Oversee compliance of legal collection activities with standards and regulations.
• Lead actions to recover in the Guaranteed Loan portfolio with government bodies.
• Manage law firms and vendors with governance oversight as per bank policy.
• Review productivity, audit results and quality control of service providers.
• Monitor risk, escalation, and governance in line with internal controls.

• To handle Legal actions and to ensure timely recovery in Guaranteed Loan portfolio from Government body through claim process


• Effectively manage end to end activities related law firm/Vendor management including governance oversight as per Banks standard.


• Ensure timely review of the productivity attainments, audit and quality control measures of the service provider.

• To direct and drive to outcome by initiating, following up litigation actions, including foreclosure of cases to contribute to business performance. Deliver fair outcomes for our customers and the company’s interests at proceeding stages and ensure own conduct maintains the orderly and transparent operation of legal proceeding process.


• Adhere to company’s policy, procedures, and control requirements applicable to day-to‑day working


• Manage accounts under claim process for Guaranteed Loan portfolio to maximize recoveries and minimize costs.


• Maintain MI to monitor and drive the performance in the best manner.


• To provide timely feedback on litigation progress to relevant stakeholders in group & country.People & Talent


• Being example and build the appropriate culture and values. Set appropriate tone and expectations in collaboration with managers and stakeholders.

Risk Management

• Escalating future or present risk on claim process of Guaranteed Loan portfolio


• Monitoring and reporting suspicious action on external portal of Government used for this claim process

• Adhering to internal DOI & processes of Bank and local regulations during working time.
