Job summary

Mastercard is seeking an Engineering Manager to lead a software engineering team responsible for building and delivering secure, scalable financial technology solutions. The role focuses on Java/J2EE, Spring, RESTful services, and Angular, with emphasis on AI-driven development workflows and continuous improvement.

You will balance technical leadership with people management, drive architectural decisions, and coordinate with cross-functional teams to ensure on-time delivery and quality software

Role

Engineering Managers will split their time between Technical (70%), Managerial (20%) and Recruiting (10%) activities.

What You Will Do

• Leadership: Leading team functions like PI Planning, Production support, Enhancements, Fresh development.
• Assisting teams on their day-to-day work by highlighting issues, defining infra and other asks for upcoming features and coordinating with TPM to raise exchanges, working closely with PMT to identify upcoming work.
• Tech: Being able to review code, groom the team technically, identify and maintain tech debt and plan for their completion, own technical backlogs.
• Atmosphere: Create and sustain an atmosphere where teams are having fun at work, being approachable and open to feedback from peers and juniors alike, tech inputs.
• Coordinating with operations team to ensure apps developed are good from operability perspective.
• Working with architects (tech and solution), challenging their designs.
• Owning continuous refactor of code and its plan.
• Support: Arrange and provide for 24x7 support for the products and solutions developed by the team.
• Agility: Ability to navigate uncertainties and changes in requirements while keeping the team’s morale high.
• Proficient in facilitating AI coding tool for expedite development tasks.

• You are an excellent communicator - able to understand and explain complex ideas clearly, orally or in writing.
• You are a self-starter capable of identifying problems or areas of opportunity and implementing solutions.
• You must be able to motivate a team, inspiring folks to do their best work.
• You must have solid understanding and hands-on experience in Java, J2EE, Spring, Spring Boot, RESTful web services, Event Driven Architecture and Angular are a MUST.
• You must also have some experience in working with and/or implementing an AI driven development lifecycle.
• Solid understanding and experience integrating as well as building scalable and performing web services.
• Experience identifying and remediating vulnerabilities.
• Excellent analytical and problem-solving skills.

Engage and manage a team of software engineers, including task planning and code reviews.
