Qualifications

• 7+ years of engineering experience.
• 3+ years of engineering team management experience.
• 8+ years of leading the definition and development of multi tier web services experience.
• Experience with full software lifecycle, including CI/CD, testing, and live-site operations.
• Experience partnering with product or program management teams.

We’re looking for a Software Development Manager to lead a high‑impact 2‑pizza engineering team within the Prime Video Offers organization. You’ll own critical services and customer journeys that determine what Prime Video customers can buy, rent, or subscribe to — and at what price. This role combines hands‑on technical leadership, strong execution, and people management. You’ll guide the team through architectural evolution while delivering customer‑facing capabilities at global scale. The scope spans architecture, delivery, operational excellence, and long‑term technical strategy, with opportunities to influence systems that serve millions of Prime Video customers.

You’ll work closely with product managers, senior engineers, and partner teams across Prime Video to solve complex problems, make pragmatic technical trade‑offs, and build a team that consistently delivers high‑quality results.

Key job responsibilities

As a Software Development Manager on the Prime Video Offers team, you will:

• Own a critical engineering pillar end-to-end. Lead a 2‑pizza engineering team responsible for services and customer journeys that are critical to the Prime Video commerce experience.
• You’ll own the architecture, execution, operations, and overall technical health of your area.
• Drive architectural evolution. Lead the team through ongoing modernization and architectural improvements, making sound technical decisions that improve scalability, reliability, maintainability, and speed of future development.
• Build and develop a high‑performing team. Hire, coach, and retain strong engineering talent.
• Develop engineers at all levels, raise the technical bar, and create a culture of ownership, innovation, collaboration, and customer obsession.
• Set a high bar for operational excellence. Own the reliability and operational health of your services.
• Establish and drive mechanisms around availability, latency, monitoring, on‑call health, incident management, cost efficiency, and continuous improvement.
• Deliver customer impact at global scale. Translate business and customer requirements into clear engineering priorities and deliver high‑quality capabilities that work reliably across Prime Video's global footprint.
• Partner across organizations. Collaborate with product, design, engineering, and partner teams across Prime Video to align on technical direction, manage dependencies, and deliver solutions across organizational boundaries.
• Balance near‑term delivery with long‑term investment. Make thoughtful trade‑offs between feature delivery, technical debt, reliability, and architectural improvements. Clearly communicate priorities and ensure the team continues to invest in the foundation needed for future growth.
• Influence technical direction. Contribute to broader Prime Video commerce architecture and engineering practices, bringing the perspective of your team to technical discussions and helping establish scalable patterns across the organization.

Basic Qualifications

• 7+ years of engineering experience
• 3+ years of engineering team management experience
• 8+ years of leading the definition and development of multi tier web services experience
• Knowledge of engineering practices and patterns for the full software/hardware/networks development life cycle, including coding standards, code reviews, source control management, build processes, testing, certification, and livesite operations
• Experience partnering with product or program management teams

Preferred Qualifications

• Experience in communicating with users, other technical teams, and senior leadership to collect requirements, describe software product features, technical designs, and product strategy
• Experience in recruiting, hiring, mentoring/coaching and managing teams of Software Engineers to improve their skills, and make them more effective, product software engineers
