Job summary

Bristlecone is seeking an API Management (APIM) Consultant to architect scalable gateway infrastructures, govern APIs, and secure microservices in cloud-native environments. You will bridge backend services and external/internal consumers with robust API governance and scalable gateway solutions.

The ideal candidate will have strong APIM platform experience (Google Apigee, AWS API Gateway), hands-on API governance, and CI/CD familiarity.

Qualifications

• 5–8 years IT integration experience with 3–5 years hands-on APIM

Responsibilities

The following are key responsibilities

• Gather requirements, propose appropriate integration and design solutions.
• Architecting, designing and helping successful implementations of SAP CI or SAP PI/PO projects in customer organizations.
• Liaising with Delivery Teams to help grow the Business around upcoming technical features in line with Organizational strategy and goals.
• Mentoring Junior PI/PO/CI Team members within the Organization.
• Drive with building Assets and Accelerators in SAP CI/PI and other niche technical areas.
• Ability to devise and lead Go To Market strategies to assist Sales and Alliance teams in expanding Bristlecone’s Technical footprint globally.
• Build Assets and Accelerators to reduce the overall cost to serve.

Qualifications And Experience

• 15 plus years of experience in SAP SAP PI/PO of which 12 plus yrs in SAP CI
• At least 3 end to end implementations not including rollouts preferably Greenfield implementation.
• Knowledge and experience in SAP Integration Suite (API Management, Event Mesh,Open Connectors, Data Intelligence, IRPA, Integration Advisor, Edge Integration Cell) is nice to have
• Good to have Certification on SAP Cloud Integration
• Experience in other middleware technologies like Mulesoft,Dellbhoomi,SAP CI-DS would be an added advantage

PROCESS KNOWLEDGE

Sound understanding of one end to end processes like MM, PP, SD, Supply Chain etc.

Expertise in at-least one industry e.g. Manufacturing, Automotive, Chemical, Life Sciences etc.

TECHNICAL EXPERTISE

• Expertise in integration of SAP and non-SAP systems in A2A and B2B scenarios using SAP CI, using both synchronous and asynchronous communication end to end interfaces.
• Experience in Analysing the CI Job Trace, Error & Monitor logs
• Experience in integration SFSF/SFDC/C4C/Hybris/Ariba and other third-party products.
• Must have capability to analyse business and technical requirements; and develop solutions to address the requirements
• In-depth knowledge in pallet functions available in CI and mapping objects.
• Scripting languages - Groovy or Java scripts to develop custom scripts in the iflow.
• Good to have experience in XSLT coding.
• Experience in configuring adapters like IDOC, SFTP, SOAP, REST, ODATA, HTTP/S, Mail, JDBC, FTP and SuccessFactors using SAP CI.
• Good to have certification on SAP Cloud Platform Integration.
• Exposure to SAP BTP (Business Technology Platform) and SAP Integration Suite offerings would be an advantage.
• Knowledge of CPEA, CI and sub accounts provisioning in CPEA.
• Should be able to work independently.

The ideal candidate has deep technical expertise in leading APIM platforms, microservices architecture, and modern cloud deployment patterns .

Key Responsibilities

• Architecture & Design: Architect scalable, secure, and resilient API Management and Gateway infrastructures to support microservices and cloud-native workflows.
• Policy Management: Design and configure advanced API policies, including JWT/OAuth authentication, traffic rate limiting, caching mechanisms, and data transformations.
• Governance & Lifecycle: Establish enterprise-wide API governance standards covering versioning strategies, comprehensive documentation, and unified design patterns.
• Integration Ecosystem: Seamlessly integrate API Gateways with backend architectures, legacy databases, message brokers, and third-party vendor platforms.
• CI/CD Automation: Build automated deployment and lifecycle pipelines using platforms like GitHub Actions to manage API environments.
• Monitoring & Security: Configure real-time telemetry dashboards, logging metrics, and monitoring tools to detect vulnerabilities and tune gateway performance.

Required Skills

• Experience: Minimum of 5–8 years in core IT integration, with at least 3–5 years dedicated strictly to hands‑on APIM architecture and development.
• Platform Expertise: Deep proficiency in APIM, Google Apigee, AWS API Gateway
• Security Protocols: Strong mastery of identity standards including OAuth 2.0, OpenID Connect, JSON Web Tokens (JWT), and SSL/TLS certificate management.
• Modern Architecture: Solid comprehension of RESTful/SOAP architectures, GraphQL, microservices models, and container frameworks like Docker and Kubernetes
• Data Standards: Expertise in structuring data formats like JSON, XML, YAML and configuring OpenAPI/Swagger specifications..
• Thought leadership - Translating emerging integration trends into actionable business value.
