Job summary

First Solar seeks an experienced Quality leader to head the site Quality function in a high-tech manufacturing environment in India. You will oversee development, implementation, and ongoing operations of the plant quality system from inception to mature production.

The role requires extensive experience in manufacturing quality, strong people leadership, and the ability to make data-driven decisions while coordinating with customers and certification bodies to ensure compliance with ISO/IEC

Qualifications

• 10+ years of manufacturing experience.
• 5+ years in Quality leadership.
• 2+ years of management experience.
• Semiconductor or Solar experience preferred.
• Engineering degree required.

Responsibilities

• Lead the site Quality function from startup to mature production.
• Develop, implement and sustain plant quality operations and management system.

Basic Job Functions:

• In this highly visible site leadership position the manager must run the overall site Quality function in a high-tech manufacturing environment. This is a growth opportunity ensuring corporate quality and reliability objectives are met from site start up to mature production. Responsibilities include the overall development, implementation and sustaining of the plant quality operations and management system.

Education/Experience:

• 10 or more years of manufacturing experience
• 5 or more years of manufacturing experience inQuality
• 2 or more years of ManagementExperience
• Semiconductor or Solar experiencepreferred
• Bachelor’s Degree in a technicaldiscipline.
• Materials/Mechanical/Chemical/Electrical Engineeringpreferred.
• Quality Engineer/Manager certificationpreferred.

Required Skills/Competencies:

• Proven ability to recruit and lead a diverse team of supervisors, engineers, andtechnicians.
• Experienced and comfortable in influencing and making difficult, yet data-baseddecisions.
• Able to work independently with minimal supervision.
• Business fluency in English and Vietnamese, spoken and written, isrequired
• Excellent interpersonal skills (both internal and customerinterface).
• Knowledge in analytics, failure analysis and structured problem-solving utilizing Quality and Continuous Improvement tools (7-Step, 8D, Why-Why, Fishbone, DMAIC, FMEA, Control plan, SPC,etc.).
• Familiar with Quality Management System (Document Control, Change Management, Non-Conformance Product, Preventive and Corrective Action Request, Internal Audit) and metrologycalibration.
• Familiar with Industry certification standards and procedures (ISO 9001, IEC, and UL)desired.
• Proficient use of all Microsoft Office Suite programs.

Essential Responsibilities:

• Manage a group of associates (Supervisors, Lab Technicians and Engineers) supporting the plant operation towards achieving the highest quality product and meeting customers’expectations.
• Drive detection and continuous improvement of manufacturing/product Quality &Reliability.
• Interface with customers and certification bodies during external audits and visits to thesite.
• Accountable and responsible in developing and managing the expense and capital budget of the site Q&R organization.
• Ensure efficient and timely lab operations and dataquality.
• Responsible to implement and monitor product quality specifications in accordance with Company Policy and ISOstandards.
• Ensure compliance (through internal audit and other means) to applicable product/manufacturingstandards.
• Identify quality issues and drive corrective/preventive actions ensuring proper non-conforming product disposition.
• Collaborate with global Quality and Reliability teams ensuring alignment of all functionalareas.
• Responsible for the accuracy and timely inspection/calibration of monitoring and measuringdevices.
• As the Q&R management representative in the Site leadership team. Support all the site driveninitiatives.

Manufacturing & Maintenance Physical Requirements:

• Will sit, stand, or walk short distances for up to 12 hours per day.
• Will climb stairs on a frequent basis.
• Will lift up to 58 pounds on an occasional basis, according to work instruction.
• Will lift up to 37 pounds on a frequent basis.
• Will push or pull up to 27 pounds of force on an occasional basis.
• Will push or pull up to 10 pounds of force on a frequent basis.
• Required to use hands to grasp, lift, handle, carry or feel objects repetitively on a frequent basis.
• 20/40 vision in each eye (with or without correction) and the ability to distinguish between red, yellow, and green is required.
• May reach above shoulder heights and below the waist on a frequent basis.
• May stoop, kneel, or bend, on an occasional basis.
• Must be able to comply with all safety standards and procedures.
• Ability to wear personal protective equipment is required (including, but not limited to; steel toed shoes, cut resistant gloves, jackets, aprons &/or arm guards, safety glasses, hearing protection).
