The QA/QC Manager Solar EPC plays a pivotal role in ensuring the highest standards of quality and compliance across all phases of utility-scale solar photovoltaic (PV) project execution. Reporting to the Project Director or Head of Engineering, this position is responsible for leading quality assurance and quality control initiatives from project inception through commissioning and handover. The ideal candidate will be a seasoned professional with deep expertise in solar EPC project delivery, with a strong command of international and Indian standards including IEC & IS. The role demands rigorous oversight of critical components such as inverters (string and central), power cables, connectors, earthing systems, structural installations, SCADA integration, and electrical safety (LA). The QA/QC Manager will drive the implementation of ISO 9001-compliant quality management systems, manage the full QA/QC documentation lifecycle, conduct Factory Acceptance Tests (FAT) and Site Acceptance Tests (SAT), and lead the resolution of Non-Conformance Reports (NCRs) through effective Corrective and Preventive Actions (CAPA). This role is instrumental in mitigating project risks, managing claims, and ensuring audit readiness, thereby safeguarding project integrity, client trust, and long-term operational reliability in large-scale solar energy infrastructure.
Responsibilities
- Lead the development, implementation, and continuous improvement of QA/QC plans and procedures aligned with ISO 9001 and project-specific requirements.
- Oversee the entire QA/QC documentation lifecycle, including inspection and test plans (ITPs), checklists, witnessing records, and certification tracking.
- Conduct and supervise Factory Acceptance Tests (FAT) and Site Acceptance Tests (SAT) for all major equipment including inverters (string and central), PV modules, power cables, connectors, structures, and SCADA systems.
- Manage the identification, documentation, and resolution of Non-Conformance Reports (NCRs) through timely CAPA implementation.
- Ensure strict compliance with IEC, IS, IEEE, and other applicable standards across all project stages.
- Lead internal and external audits, including third-party and client audits, and coordinate corrective actions to ensure closure.
- Collaborate with engineering, procurement, construction, and commissioning teams to integrate quality checkpoints at every phase.
- Implement risk mitigation strategies related to quality, safety, and performance in utility-scale solar PV projects.
- Act as the primary point of contact for quality-related claims, disputes, and contractual obligations.
- Mentor and train QA/QC personnel, fostering a culture of quality excellence and continuous improvement.
- Maintain up-to-date records and digital archives for audit readiness and future project reference.
Requirements
- Bachelor’s degree in Electrical Engineering or a related field; postgraduate qualification or certification in Quality Management (e.g., ISO 9001 Lead Auditor) is highly desirable.
- 5+ years of progressive experience in QA/QC within solar EPC or renewable energy projects, with demonstrated leadership in utility-scale solar PV systems.
- In-depth technical knowledge of solar PV systems, including string and central inverters, power cables, connectors, earthing, lightning arresters (LA), and structural components.
- Proven experience in SCADA integration and commissioning of solar power plants.
- Expertise in IEC, IS, and IEEE standards relevant to solar energy systems.
- Strong working knowledge of ISO 9001 Quality Management Systems and their application in EPC environments.
- Hands-on experience with FAT, SAT, NCRs, and CAPA processes across large-scale projects.
- Demonstrated ability to manage claims, conduct risk assessments, and lead audit responses.
- Proficient in QA/QC documentation tools, project management software, and digital record-keeping systems.
- Excellent communication, negotiation, and stakeholder management skills.
- Willingness to travel to project sites across India for inspections, testing, and audits.
