Job summary

Adani Group in Ahmedabad seeks a Lead PCS engineer to drive design, development, integration and optimization of power conversion systems for BESS, renewables and grid-connected power electronics projects.

You will define architectures, perform MATLAB/Simulink/PLECS simulations, develop control strategies for charging/discharging, protection and thermal management, and mentor PCS engineers while ensuring compliance with IEC, IEEE and regional grid codes.

Qualifications

  • Educational qualifications include BE/BTech in Electrical Engineering or related discipline.
  • MTech/ME in Power Electronics or Power Systems is an added advantage.
  • PhD in Power Electronics or Power Systems will be an added advantage.

Responsibilities

  • Lead the design and development of PCS/Inverter systems for BESS applications.
  • Define system architecture, electrical topology, and component selection for power converters.
  • Develop technical specifications and engineering requirements for PCS products.
  • Drive innovation in converter technologies, power density improvement, efficiency enhancement, and cost optimization.
  • Review and approve engineering designs, calculations, and technical documentation.
  • System Design & Development - Design and validate bidirectional converters, DC-DC converters, and grid-tied inverter systems.
  • Perform electrical system modeling and simulations using MATLAB/Simulink, PLECS, PSCAD, or similar tools.
  • Develop control strategies for power conversion, grid synchronization, battery charging/discharging, and energy management.
  • Design and optimize protection systems, thermal management, EMI/EMC mitigation, and fault handling mechanisms.
  • Integration & Validation - Lead PCS integration with Battery Management Systems (BMS), Energy Management Systems (EMS), SCADA, and Grid Systems.
  • Define validation plans, testing protocols, and performance verification procedures.
  • Support Hardware-in-the-Loop (HIL), FAT, and SAT.
  • Analyze system performance data and implement corrective actions.
  • Compliance & Standards - Ensure compliance with IEC, IEEE, UL, CE, and regional grid code requirements.
  • Coordinate certification and regulatory approval activities.
  • Conduct technical risk assessments and reliability analysis.
  • Stakeholder Management - Collaborate with electrical, mechanical, firmware, software, and system engineering teams.
  • Interact with customers, suppliers, consultants, and certification agencies.
  • Provide technical guidance, mentoring, and support to engineers within the PCS team.

Purpose/Objective
  • The Lead PCS will be responsible for the design, development, integration, validation, and optimization of Power Conversion Systems for Battery Energy Storage Systems (BESS), renewable energy applications, and grid-connected power electronics solutions.
  • The role involves leading technical development activities, coordinating with cross-functional teams, and ensuring compliance with industry standards and grid regulations.
