Job summary

HSBC in Mumbai seeks an experienced professional to join the Markets and Securities Services team, focusing on derivatives clearing within the Collateral and trade lifecycle operations. The role requires strong capital markets knowledge and hands-on experience in risk management processes.

Qualifications

  • Minimum 7–8 years of relevant work experience in capital markets or derivatives.
  • Capital markets knowledge preferred.
  • Professional Masters / Postgraduate degree preferred.

Responsibilities

  • End-to-end derivatives clearing operations including collateral movement and settlement.
  • Monitor trade confirmation, MTM, margins, and limits for risk controls.
  • Maintain awareness of securities markets, derivatives life cycle and regulations.
  • Collaborate with clients and internal teams to manage risk and service quality.
  • Support staff development and adapt to evolving client requirements.

Markets and Securities Services offers a range of fund administration, global custody, sub-custody and clearing services. We are currently seeking an experienced professional to join the Markets and Securities Services team.

Principal Responsibilities
  • The role is within the Derivatives Clearing Team that manages the end-to-end operational activities such as collateral movement, risk management and trade confirmation and daily settlement.
  • The role requires strong understanding of the securities markets along with knowledge about derivatives as a product, trade life cycle, market regulations and relevant risk principles associated with exchange traded derivatives.
  • Critical role activities involve collateral movement, upstreaming and downstreaming, client trade confirmation, margin monitoring, limits monitoring, MTM monitoring and settlement, client reporting, etc.
Qualifications/Requirements
  • A minimum of 7-8 years of relevant work experience
  • Professional Masters / Post Graduate degree preferred
  • Capital Market knowledge is preferred
Major Challenges
  • Managing services and identifying risk areas within the area of control to meet and beat customer expectations
  • Ensure that the activities are done accurately and within market cutoffs.
  • Ensure staff development and motivation.
  • Anticipating future client requirements and developing the capabilities to meet the same
  • To operate flexible systems
Role Context
  • The Indian capital market is complex and hence it is extremely challenging to continuously offer superior service and flawless execution to our customer base, which are very demanding large institutional clients.
  • Additionally, the Custody / Derivatives business is extremely competitive where a single client win / loss can result in revenue worth millions of USD getting impacted. The size of transaction intensifies the operational risks and small error can lead to financial and reputation impact. The custodian, including the operations section, is expected to be a partner to the client through the close liaison with CSV.

Pro-tip : Familiarity with AI-enabled tools is an advantage.
