Job Summary

The Manager of Engineering – BenTech Integrations is responsible for leading one cross-functional delivery pod within our India-based BenTech engineering organization. This role is accountable for day-to-day execution, team health, delivery predictability, and support readiness for a pod that builds, enhances, deploys, and supports integration capabilities connecting our carrier systems with the HCM and benefits administration platforms our employer clients and broker partners depend on, including platforms such as Workday, ADP, UKG, Benefitfocus, PlanSource, Businessolver, and others.

In this role, you will coach and develop a high-performing team while translating roadmap priorities and engineering direction into actionable plans, sprint execution, release outcomes, and operational readiness. You will partner closely with product, architecture, engineering, quality, and operations leaders in India and the United States to manage dependencies, remove obstacles, and deliver reliable outcomes within established engineering standards and business priorities.

This leader brings a strong delivery and customer focus, embraces servant leadership, and helps the team apply sound engineering practices to achieve quality, reliability, and continuous improvement. The role also requires attentiveness to governance, compliance, production readiness, and support for critical business periods such as Annual Enrollment and Open Enrollment.

Ability to work on-site in Bengaluru, India is a requirement of the role.

Mode of Working

This role follows a hybrid work model, with a primary base in Bengaluru. While on-site presence is essential for key engagements, flexibility is offered for remote work based on business needs and team alignment.

Key Responsibilities
Delivery Execution & Predictability
  • Lead day-to-day execution for a single BenTech integration delivery pod, ensuring commitments are delivered with predictable throughput, clear dependency management, and transparent communication to stakeholders.
  • Translate roadmap priorities and engineering direction into actionable team plans, sprint goals, release outcomes, and support readiness activities.
  • Remove delivery obstacles, elevate risks appropriately, and improve team flow from planning through production support.
  • Drive strong execution across design, build, test, deployment and stabilization activities.
People Leadership & Team Development
  • Lead, coach, and develop a cross-functional engineering pod, fostering a culture of accountability, craftsmanship, collaboration, and continuous improvement.
  • Provide ongoing feedback, performance coaching and career development support to team members.
  • Build strong team connectedness and engagement while reinforcing healthy agile ways of working.
  • Support hiring, onboarding, and capability development for assigned team members, helping establish and mature pod-level delivery capacity as the SGS BenTech organization grows.
Engineering Excellence & Quality
  • Reinforce established engineering practices within the pod, balancing speed with quality, reliability and maintainability, including test automation, CI/CD discipline, code quality, observability and production readiness.
  • Partner with lead engineers and architects to ensure sound implementation decisions, appropriate non-functional coverage and alignment to approved engineering standards.
  • Use delivery, quality, and operational metrics to identify improvement opportunities and strengthen team execution over time.
Operational Readiness & Support
  • Ensure the team is prepared to support production health, issue triage, defect resolution and service recovery when needed.
  • Drive readiness for critical business periods, including Annual Enrollment and Open Enrollment, through planning, coordination, risk mitigation and support playbooks.
  • Promote strong execution in incident follow-up, root cause analysis and preventive improvements.
Cross-Functional Partnership
  • Partner closely with Product Owners, Scrum Masters, lead engineers, architects, QA, operations and US-based stakeholders to align pod plans, delivery priorities and release readiness.
  • Coordinate dependencies and issue resolution across teams and partner groups, escalating risks and tradeoffs when broader leadership support is needed.
  • Maintain clear communication with stakeholders regarding pod status, key risks, dependencies and delivery outcomes.
Governance, Risk, & Compliance
  • Ensure team execution aligns with enterprise engineering, security, risk, privacy and data governance standards.
  • Reinforce disciplined change management, production readiness reviews and adherence to required controls for delivery and support.
  • Use delivery and service metrics to improve transparency, accountability, and continuous improvement.
