Job summary

iDream Education seeks an IT Lead to own end-to-end IT infrastructure, security, and operations across the organization. You will manage internal networks, cloud services, and a field-deployed hardware fleet, ensuring security and reliability even in rural deployment contexts.

You will build the IT function from scratch, establish governance, and drive AI-enabled operations to improve monitoring, troubleshooting, and reporting. Strong ownership and vendor management are essential.

Qualifications

• 5–7 years in IT infrastructure, systems administration, or IT operations with ownership across networks and devices.
• Experience managing hardware deployed outside a single office (field, rural or distributed environments) is preferred.
• Sector context in EdTech, education SaaS, or mission-driven B2B/B2G is advantageous.
• Strong knowledge of networking, Windows/Linux administration, and cloud platforms (AWS/GCP/Azure); familiarity with DPDPA 2023.

Responsibilities

• Own vendor relationships for hardware, software licenses, ISPs, cloud providers, and AMC contracts.

We are looking for an IT Lead — someone who will be the single point of ownership for everything IT at iDream Education. This is not a narrow infrastructure or helpdesk role; it is a domain-ownership role spanning internal systems, network and cloud infrastructure, our field-deployed device fleet (iPrep Tablets and other hardware), data security, and compliance.

You will be the person who ensures our internal teams never lose a working day to IT friction, and who ensures thousands of devices deployed across schools and NGOs in rural India stay secure, tracked, and functional. You will also be the one building the IT function itself — starting hands-on, and growing it into a proper team as iDream scales.

IT Infrastructure, Systems & Support

• Own and manage all internal IT infrastructure — networks, servers, cloud services, and systems administration — ensuring uptime, reliability, and security across office operations.
• Run IT helpdesk and support for all employees, ensuring fast turnaround on hardware, software, and access-related issues.
• Own vendor relationships for hardware, software licenses, ISPs, cloud providers, and AMC contracts — negotiating terms, managing renewals, and controlling IT spend.

Device & Field Hardware Fleet Management

• Own the full lifecycle of iPrep Tablets and other field-deployed hardware — procurement, provisioning, tracking, maintenance, and end-of-life — across schools and NGO locations.
• Build and maintain systems for remote monitoring, troubleshooting, and updates of devices deployed at scale in low-connectivity environments.
• Coordinate with product and tech teams to ensure hardware compatibility with new iPrep software releases and rollouts.

Data Security & Compliance

• Own information security practices across the organisation — access controls, data backup, endpoint security, and incident response.
• Ensure the organisation's data handling practices align with DPDPA 2023 and other applicable data protection requirements.
• Conduct periodic security audits and risk assessments, and build/maintain IT policies, SOPs, and documentation.

AI-First IT Operations: Bring AI-augmented workflows into IT operations — from automated monitoring and alerting to AI-assisted troubleshooting, documentation, and reporting — keeping iDream's IT stack modern and lean.

4. Qualifications & Experience

Experience: 5–7 years in IT infrastructure, systems administration, or IT operations, with demonstrable ownership across networks, hardware/device management, and security — ideally including experience managing hardware deployed outside a single office (field, retail, or distributed environments).

Sector Context: Experience in EdTech, the Development sector, or mission-driven B2B/B2G environments is a strong advantage. Experience managing device fleets in low-bandwidth or rural contexts is a plus.

Technical Proficiency: Strong grounding in networking, systems administration (Windows/Linux), cloud platforms (AWS/GCP/Azure), and device/MDM (mobile device management) tools.

Security & Compliance: Working knowledge of IT security fundamentals and data protection principles, including familiarity with DPDPA 2023.

Vendor & Budget Management: Proven experience managing vendor contracts, AMC negotiations, and IT budgets.

AI Fluency: You use AI tools as a daily productivity layer for monitoring, troubleshooting, documentation, and reporting — not as a novelty.
