Job summary

JSW Steel in Navi Mumbai seeks a Category Execution professional to translate category strategies into actionable sourcing plans and lead end-to-end procurement for high-value mining and equipment contracts. You will manage supplier performance, drive cost savings and ensure alignment with production and maintenance requirements.

Responsibilities

• Translate approved category strategies into sourcing and procurement plans.
• Lead sourcing events for assigned categories, including RFQs/RFPs, bid evaluation and commercial negotiations.
• Lead end-to-end procurement for high-value mining and equipment-related contracts, including MDO, HEMM maintenance, equipment hiring and plant/machinery O&M, focusing on cost optimization and business continuity.
• Manage complex and high-value procurement requirements within delegated authority.
• Ensure procurement plans are aligned with production, maintenance and project requirements.
• Identify opportunities for demand consolidation, specification optimisation and standardisation.
• Lead negotiations covering price, payment terms, lead time, warranty, service levels and other commercial terms.
• Conduct supplier benchmarking and market analysis.
• Develop commercial evaluation models and support TCO analysis.
• Deliver agreed savings and value improvement targets.
• Support contract development, renewal and renegotiation activities.
• Manage key suppliers for assigned categories.
• Conduct supplier performance reviews and drive corrective actions.
• Monitor supplier capacity, delivery performance, quality and commercial compliance.
• Develop alternate suppliers for critical materials, spares and services.
• Support strategic supplier development initiatives led by the Category Owner.
• Work closely with Mines, Maintenance, Engineering, Stores and other operational stakeholders to understand requirements and criticality.
• Monitor procurement of critical spares and materials to minimise production downtime.
• Track order fulfilment, lead times and supply constraints.
• Resolve escalated supplier and procurement issues.
• Analyse spend, demand, price trends, supplier performance and procurement opportunities.
• Prepare category performance reports and management dashboards.
• Track savings, contract utilisation and procurement KPIs.
• Provide market intelligence and sourcing insights to the Category Owner.
• Ensure procurement activities comply with approved policies, processes and delegation of authority.
• Maintain proper documentation for sourcing, negotiation, approvals and contracts.
• Support internal and external audits.
• Promote ethical, transparent and fair procurement practices.
• Identify opportunities for procurement process improvement and digitalisation.
• Drive catalogue development, rate contracts and framework agreements.
• Support cross-functional initiatives focused on reducing total cost and improving operational efficiency.
