Job summary

Standard Chartered India is seeking a Finance Reporting professional to deliver accurate financial reporting and related analytics. You will work with multiple GFS teams to ensure timely month-end closures, intercompany reconciliations, and compliance with IAS/IFRS standards.

The role requires strong analytical skills and ERP/GL proficiency. The position offers a path for growth within Group Finance Services in a dynamic banking environment in Chennai.

Qualifications

  • The candidate should have good analytical skills, knowledge of reporting standards and understanding on banking accounting.
  • Perform Group Statutory reporting per Group Finance instructions.
  • Experience in Finance & Accounts: journal entries, month end close, financial statements (P&L, B/S) and fair value analysis.
  • Analyze financial statements and understand Financial/Non-Financial instruments.
  • Provide analytics for variances and timely stakeholder communications.
  • Able to respond to Country/Group requirements within SLAs.
  • Strong knowledge of IAS and IFRS accounting standards.
  • Excellent written and verbal communication and analytical skills.
  • Proficient in Excel and ERP General Ledger concepts.
  • IFRS certification is a plus.
  • English language proficiency.

Responsibilities

  • Ensure timely delivery of services relating to Financial Reporting within Group and Country deadlines.
  • Deliver services within SLA and escalate SLA breaches with rationale.
  • Exercise diligence, governance to comply with data quality and reporting.
  • Monitor, validate and report KPIs within the service framework.
  • Close the Month End Books and cover intercompany reconciliation.
  • Ensure compliance with new reporting standards per Group policies.
  • Prepare various financial reports and adhoc analytics as requested by stakeholders.
  • Coordinate with peers across GFS teams: product control, FSM, risk, balance sheet, financial control, and management reporting.
  • Look for opportunities to improve processes and reduce turnaround time.
  • Collaborate with stakeholders to improve process controls and DOI updates.
  • Demonstrate ethics and uphold the Group Code of Conduct.
  • Identify, escalate, mitigate risk, conduct and compliance matters.
  • Support group-wide brand, values, and governance; manage multiple functions.

Key Responsibilities
  • Ensure timely delivery of services relating to Financial Reporting and all other internal and external reporting requirements within the Group and Country deadlines.
  • Ensure services are delivered within the SLA, working with a cohesive team to produce the Reports and analyse the material movement in a timely and accurate manner. Any breach in SLA’s is immediately escalated to the Line Manager with due reasons as applicable.
  • Exercise right level of diligence, control and governance to comply with Data Quality and Reporting
  • Comply, Monitor, Validate and Report all Key Performance Indicators within the overall service delivery framework. Any breaches of the above framework are promptly highlighted to the line manager.
  • Responsible for Ensuring the Closure of the Month End Books. Knowledge on financial reporting including Intercompany reconciliation processes.
  • Ensuring compliance of regulations, policies, and requirements of the new reporting standards as prescribed in the Group Policies.
  • Responsible for the preparation of various financial reports and work on the adhoc by gauging the requirements from stakeholders and help in GFS vide Governance activities. (eg compilation of Key Risk Indicators, Dashboard, Metrics and Projects etc)
  • To synergise and coordinate with peers across GFS- the product control, FSM team, Risk team, Balance Sheet management Team, Financial Control team and Management Reporting team.
  • Work towards continuous improvement to identify and implement opportunities to decrease process turn-around time and improve productivity.
  • Work with different stakeholders to continuously improve process controls and efficiency of delivery of services and Updating DOI.
  • Display exemplary conduct and live by the Group’s Values and Code of Conduct.
  • Take personal responsibility for embedding the highest standards of ethics, including regulatory and business conduct, across Standard Chartered Bank. This includes understanding and ensuring compliance with, in letter and spirit, all applicable laws, regulations, guidelines and the Group Code of Conduct.

  • Embed Here for good and Group’s brand and values in GFS India R2R Reporting; Perform other responsibilities assigned under Group, Country, Business or Functional policies and procedures; Multiple functions (double hats).

  • The candidate should have good analytical skills, knowledge of reporting standards and understanding on accounting of banking processes.
  • Should perform Group Statutory reporting as per Group statutory reporting procedures by referring Group Finance division Instructions
  • Current experience should be related to Finance & Accounts [viz., Preparation of Journal entries, Month end Book Closure, Preparation of financial statements (P&L and B/S) including fair value analysis].
  • Analyse financial statements prepared.
  • Understands the concepts of Financial Instrument and Non-Financial instruments.
  • Supporting Analytics for variances and timely communication to stakeholders.
  • Demonstrate the ability to respond to Country / Group requirements and queries within the SLA.
  • Good understanding of Financial Accounting standards (IAS and IFRS)
  • Demonstrates ability to respond to client requirement.
  • Good Communication and analytical skills.
  • Basic Excel functions and ERP (General Ledger Module) working knowledge
