Job summary

American Express in India seeks an experienced product leader to drive AI/GenAI initiatives within the Finance Automation COE, partnering with Controllership and Finance leadership to deliver automated reports and analytics using Tableau and Power BI, while integrating AI/ML into finance workflows.

You will own end-to-end delivery, requirements, agile ceremonies, and stakeholder management, shaping scalable, data-driven solutions across regulatory and treasury processes.

Qualifications

  • 8+ years of enterprise product development across the full lifecycle.
  • Ability to translate business problems into AI/ML and GenAI solutions.
  • Experience gathering requirements, creating user stories, and docs.
  • Experience with AI/GenAI tools, LLMs, prompt engineering.
  • Knowledge of ML concepts and data-driven decision making.
  • Experience with Agile (Scrum/Kanban) and tools like Jira/Rally.
  • Strong communication and stakeholder management skills.
  • Experience in process evaluation and optimization using AI/BPM.
  • Bachelor’s degree in CS/Engineering/Finance or related field.

The Finance Automation COE team within the Finance Technology Data & Transformation (FTD&T) group is responsible for strengthening business engagement framework, identifying and delivering results on critical projects and initiatives leveraging process automation and the use of advanced technologies.

We are looking for a motivated colleague who is collaborative and passionate about transforming processes using automation tools & capabilities. The individual is expected to play a critical role of partnering with Controllership and broader Finance leadership teams for regulatory & treasury processes supporting Fast Forward initiatives. The position is expected to develop automated reports and analytical capabilities by leveraging tools like Tableau & Power Products, including process analysis, and partner with technical teams to deploy solutions for various finance processes. A strong focus on process optimization and driving results is required.

Responsibilities
  • Lead end-to-end product delivery across the lifecycle—ideation, strategy, design, development, testing, deployment, and post-production support for enterprise-scale AI/GenAI solutions.
  • Collaborate with business stakeholders to identify opportunities for AI/ML and GenAI adoption , translating business problems into scalable, data-driven technical solutions.
  • Drive requirements gathering and analysis , creating clear user stories, acceptance criteria, and functional/technical documentation.
  • Partner with engineers, and architects to design and integrate AI/ML models and GenAI capabilities (e.g., LLM-based solutions, prompt engineering) into business workflows.
  • Identify and implement intelligent automation and process optimization initiatives using AI, ML, Business Process Management, and analytics tools to improve operational efficiency and customer experience.
  • Participate & Support in Agile ceremonies (Scrum/Kanban) and ensure smooth delivery using tools like Jira/Rally, managing backlog prioritization and sprint planning.
  • Act as a bridge between technical and non-technical teams , effectively communicating complex AI concepts to stakeholders at all levels.
  • Drive data-driven decision-making , leveraging analytics, KPIs, and insights to continuously enhance product performance and business outcomes.
  • Manage multiple concurrent initiatives in a fast-paced environment, ensuring timely delivery, quality, and alignment with strategic goals.
  • Build and maintain strong stakeholder relationships , influencing cross-functional teams to achieve alignment and successful execution.
  • Evaluate existing business processes to identify gaps, risks, and opportunities for automation and AI-led transformation .
  • Contribute to continuous improvement initiatives , fostering a culture of innovation, experimentation, and learning agility within teams.
Qualifications
  • 8+ years of experience in enterprise product development and delivery, with hands-on involvement across the full product lifecycle—ideation, strategy, design, development, testing, deployment, and maintenance in large-scale, complex environments.
  • Strong ability to translate business problems into technical solutions, including AI/ML and GenAI-driven use cases.
  • Proven expertise in requirements gathering, analysis, and documentation, including creation of user stories, acceptance criteria, and functional specifications.
  • Experience working with AI/GenAI tools and frameworks (e.g., LLMs, prompt engineering, automation tools), with the ability to identify and implement intelligent automation opportunities.
  • Solid understanding of machine learning concepts, data-driven decision making, and AI product lifecycle, including model integration into business workflows.
  • Hands-on experience with Agile methodologies (Scrum/Kanban) and end-to-end delivery using tools such as Jira or Rally.
  • Strong analytical, problem-solving, and critical thinking skills, with a focus on continuous improvement and innovation.
  • Experience in business process evaluation and optimization, leveraging AI, ML, BPM, and automation tools to drive efficiency and scalability.
  • Excellent communication and stakeholder management skills, with the ability to articulate complex AI/technical concepts to both technical and non-technical audiences.
  • Proven ability to collaborate across cross-functional teams and influence stakeholders to drive alignment and delivery.
  • Awareness and/or hands-on experience with automation ecosystems, including Data Analytics, Machine Learning, Business Process Management (BPM), and open-source AI technologies.
  • Ability to manage multiple priorities in a fast-paced, dynamic environment, ensuring timely and high-quality delivery.
  • Banking/Financial Services domain experience is preferred, especially in data-driven or AI-led transformation initiatives.
  • Demonstrated learning agility, curiosity, and adaptability to emerging technologies, particularly in the evolving AI/GenAI space.
  • Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, Engineering, Finance, or a related technical field (preferred).
