Job summary

HSBC invites a skilled financial accounting professional to join our Insurance finance team in Gurugram. The role focuses on monthly journal postings, IFRS 17 accounting, and accurate financial statement closure for Insurance operations.

You will manage large datasets in Excel/Access, monitor ledger health, and prepare variance analyses with clear substantiation. A strong team player with excellent communication is essential.

Qualifications

• Relevant accounting experience in the Insurance domain or similar vertical.
• Strong knowledge of IFRS 17 and month-end closing processes.
• Experience handling large data sets with advanced Excel/Access skills.

Responsibilities

• Prepare and post monthly journal entries, including month-end reclassifications and IFRS 17 implications.
• Ensure accuracy and closure of financial statements for Insurance operations.
• Monitor ledger integrity and clear suspense/account reconciliation items in a timely manner.
• Analyse variances and provide substantiation for inter- and intra-company differences.
• Support the manager in completing period-end close activities and financial reporting.

We are currently seeking an experienced professional to join our team in the role of Manager-Financial Accounting, Insurance

In this role, you will:

• Prepare and post monthly Journal / Month end reclassification entries, along with IFRS 17 knowledge
• Should be well versed with Financial statement closure procedures of Insurance business
• Prepare and present Financial statements including related variance analysis
• Need to handle big volume data / database : Should be good in Excel / MS Access
• Checking and monitoring the integrity of the ledger by clearing suspense and control accounts on a timely basis
• Account owner or reconciler for finance owned accounts / including substantiation
• Review Subsystems for accuracy and ensure reconciling items are researched in a timely manner.
• Should be well versed with the key requirement of Risk & Control, Requires strong excel and analytical skills
• Responsible for reviewing the Inter and Intra company variances
• Assist the Manager in completing various period end close responsibilities

To be successful you will:

• B.Com /M.Com/ MBA/CA (Inter)/ICWA(Inter):3-5yrs, ICWA:2-5yrs, CA:-1-2yrs
• Prior experience of Insurance accounting and reporting is preferred
• Independent, able to work under pressure and handle multiple tasks with excellent communication and interpersonal skills
• Level of analytical skills and ability to grasp complicated functions in short period of time and transfer knowledge appropriately
• High proficiency in MS Office (Excel, Word, Access, PowerPoint, etc.)
• Self-motivated and good team player
• Experience of working in Corporate Industry profile would be an added advantage.Should be flexible to stretch and work across shifts.
• Stretch Hours at month end is normal practice , candidate should be flexible to work in any time zone, should have handled large database and have proficiency in excel.
