Job summary

ECS | Enterprise Change Specialists is seeking a Data Governance Manager to lead the design, implementation, and operationalization of a comprehensive enterprise data governance framework. You will ensure data accuracy, consistency, security, and regulatory compliance across the organization, leveraging Purview, Snowflake, and Talend to enable trusted analytics.

The role requires strategic leadership, cross-functional collaboration, and embedding governance into day-to-day business operations

Qualifications

• 5-8+ years in data governance, metadata management, or data quality programs.
• Strong expertise in Microsoft Purview for metadata ingestion, lineage visualization, and policy enforcement.
• Hands-on with Snowflake, Azure Synapse, and Talend Data Fabric/ETL pipelines.
• Define and maintain data glossaries, reference data models, and lineage automation.
• Experience integrating governance controls with ServiceNow, JIRA, and Azure DevOps for issue tracking and CI/CD.
• Knowledge of data protection and compliance policies (masking, retention, encryption, RBAC).
• Familiarity with DAMA-DMBOK and EDM Council CDMC governance frameworks.
• Excellent stakeholder management and communication across IT and business teams.

1. Job Summary

We are seeking a Data Governance Manager to lead the design, implementation, and operationalization of a comprehensive enterprise data governance framework. The role will ensure that data across the organization is accurate, consistent, secure, and compliant with internal and regulatory standards. The ideal candidate will have hands-on experience with Microsoft Purview, Snowflake, and Talend, along with strong knowledge of metadata management, data lineage, and data quality frameworks. This position requires strategic leadership, cross-functional collaboration, and the ability to embed governance into day-to-day business operations and analytics delivery.

2. Must-Have Skills (Mandatory)

• 5-8 years of progressive experience in Data Governance, Metadata Management, or Data Quality.
• Strong expertise in Microsoft Purview for metadata ingestion, lineage visualization, and policy enforcement.
• Hands-on experience with Snowflake Data Cloud, Azure Synapse, and Talend Data Fabric/ETL pipelines.
• Proven ability to define and maintain data glossaries, reference data models, and lineage automation.
• Experience integrating governance controls with ServiceNow, JIRA, and Azure DevOps for issue tracking and CI/CD pipelines.
• Strong knowledge of data protection and compliance policies (masking, retention, encryption, RBAC).
• Demonstrated understanding of DAMA-DMBOK and EDM Council CDMC governance frameworks.
• Excellent stakeholder management and communication skills, with the ability to drive governance adoption across IT and business teams.

3. Good-to-Have Skills (Optional)

• Familiarity with Informatica Data Quality, Power BI, Tableau, or Looker lineage integration.
• Knowledge of data stewardship models, governance maturity assessments, and KPI-based governance reporting.
• Experience leading tool evaluations or Proof of Concepts (PoCs) for metadata and quality management platforms.
• Exposure to automation of governance workflows using scripting or integration tools.
• Prior experience in regulatory reporting or audit preparation within data management domains.
• Strong ability to mentor teams on data ownership, literacy, and stewardship best practices.

4. Qualifications & Experience

• Education: Bachelor's or Master's degree in Computer Science, Data Management, Information Systems, or related field.
• Experience: 5-8+ years in data governance, metadata management, or enterprise data quality programs.
• Certifications (Preferred):
  • Microsoft Certified: Azure Data Engineer Associate or Purview Data Governance Specialist
  • Snowflake SnowPro Certification
  • DAMA Certified Data Management Professional (CDMP)
