Overview

Job Title: Safety & Security Manager

Reports to: Head of Corporate Security, Safety, Wellness, and Travel & Expat Management

The Safety & Security Manager is responsible for developing, implementing, and maintaining safety and security policies, procedures, and programs in compliance with ISO 45001 standards. This role involves ensuring the safety and well-being of all employees and visitors, protecting company assets, and fostering a safe and secure work environment.

Responsibilities
  • Site security operations for all locations in India. Site Security operations involves direct deployment of guarding contract staff deployed in MBRDI Bangalore locations (Total Staff: 100 Approx.).
  • Emergency & Crisis Management: Managing the emergency & crisis situations and advising the senior management. Training, scenario drills, BCP coordination with other entities in India, tools training and upkeep. This activity will be in lines with the person responsible for Emergency and Crisis Management topics
  • Fire Protection: Conduct training & drills for each location based on Gov. of India regulation.
  • Project Management: Project management standby & support to the department manager.
  • Expat Secul Pre-assessment of gated communities in Bangalore and Pune for expat housing.
  • Travel Security: Coordination with the regional security officer and CS headquarters during crisis situations to ascertain wellbeing of all travelers in the incident region.
  • Security Situation and Incident Management: The coordination of incident handling and communication with the Corporate Security team in Stuttgart needs to be managed along with the department manager. Investigations & Prevention: Support all allocated local investigations. This will include coordination with IT and all stakeholders.
  • Risk Assessments: For existing offices, the risk assessment needs to be done to identify and mitigate the risks. Gated community risk assessments for possible future Expat housings requirements.
  • Event Security: Risk assessment, planning and vendor management for company events.
  • Personal Protection: For BOM visits coordinate with the personal protection team in Stuttgart and plan the local security and transport arrangements.
  • Identity and Authorization Management: Access control, badge printing and parking management with an ever-increasing workforce and new locations needs strategic planning and inventory management.
  • Vendor Management: Coordination of vendor staff deployment, billing and bill processing with finance, SLA review and compilation.
Description of Tasks

Site Security (Operations Management):

  • Coordinate the deployment activities and ensure operational availability of security services across all MBRDI facilities / location for which you are responsible in India. This includes
  • Guard force deployment and optimization,
  • Parking management at respective locations, identity & authorization management,
  • material movement, fire protection, emergency and crisis support,
  • Local command center operations, expat security and Travel Security operations
  • alignment and review with the department manager.
  • Escort Deployment & Lady employee time management.
  • Coordinate with local law enforcement and emergency services as needed.

Emergency and Crisis Management:

  • Conduct risk analyses to identify potential consequences for Mercedes-Benz and its staff at the earliest possible stage and take the necessary preventive action.
  • Conduct and maintain records of all yearly emergency and crisis management tasks in 15 coordination with Crisis Management task owner.
  • On issues related to Bangalore prepare the action plan in discussion with the department manager and advise the management & stakeholders on risk evasion or mitigation strategies.

Vendor Management:

  • Review the SLA’s by vendors for the following services and compile reports along with the
  • department manager for the following:
    • Guarding services at all MBRDI locations
    • Availability of all security infrastructure (Access Control, Surveillance systems, Barriers, Fire protection systems)
  • Prepare service quality reports along with department manager prior to yearly renewal of contracts with all the service providers.
  • New vendor evaluation from a business continuity perspective.

Project Management:

  • Growing organizations like MBRDI have a new location project every year, which involves corporate security engagement from the start. Standby and backup of the department manager on all project activities.
Certifications & Experience

Occupational Health Safety Management System

  • Implementing health and safety plans in the workplace according to legal guidelines.
  • Support in certification process of IS0 45001 and Ensure the organization’s compliance with 1S0 45001 standards.
  • Prepare and maintain documentation required for ISO 45001 certification and audits.
  • Preparing and enforcing policies to establish a culture of health and safety
  • Monitors the effective implementation of Occupational Health Safety Management System at all MBRDI sites in accordance to Corporate Health and Safety guidelines.
  • Stay updated on changes in OH&S regulations and best practices.

Safety Risk Assessments:

  • Conduct Safety Risks of the facilities and activities to identify and mitigate risks.
  • Inspect activities equipment and machinery to observe possible unsafe acts and unsafe conditions

Emergency Response Team :

  • Train 20 % of Employees as ERT members from each department 40
  • Co-ordinate and conduct evacuation drills as per local regulations

Safety Incident Management: The coordination of incident handling and communication with the Corporate Safety team in Stuttgart needs to be managed along with the department manager and as per guidelines.

Safety Investigations, Prevention and Reporting: Investigate accidents or incidents to discover causes. This will include coordination with all stakeholders. Post analyzing the summary to be presented in the HR LS and if qualified present in the ELS.

Wellness Centre: Manage the Wellness Centre operations that includes coordination with the service provider on staffing, Daily operations and Medicine Management.

Ergonomics Program: Manage the Ergonomics program that includes co-ordination with the service provider on staffing, Ergonomic assessments, Trainings and Ergonomic products procurement.

Investigations & Prevention:

Undertake local investigations on cases assigned by the local management

After investigations, review the lessons learnt and advice changes to procedures / policies with prevention of similar incidents as the objective.

Event Security and Personal Protection:

Execute planned security measures for events & ensure availability of adequate personal protection measures for BOM members

Risk Management:

Conduct periodic risk assessment for MBDRI locations to mitigate ever-changing security environment and customer demands.

Qualifications

Education:

  • University degree and many years' substantial experience in the field of security management.
  • Lead Auditor ISO 45001:2019
  • Lead Auditor ISO 22301:2019
  • NEBOSH/IOSH certification or equivalent in health and safety management.

Experience (Type):

  • Experience of managing crisis situations and/or corporate crises, ability to think strategically and handle varying workloads
  • Good leadership skills, high level of commitment, dedication, and assertiveness. Extensive knowledge of corporate processes and security structures.

Qualifications:

  • Bachelor’s degree in Engineering, Occupational Health, Safety Management, or a related field.
  • Professional certifications such as NEBOSH, CSP, or equivalent are highly desirable.
  • Extensive knowledge of ISO 45001 and other relevant safety and security standards.
  • Minimum of 10 years of experience in a safety and security management role.
  • Strong leadership, communication, and organizational skills.
  • Ability to conduct risk assessments and manage emergency response procedures effectively.

Skills:

  • Proficiency in OH&S management systems and security protocols.
  • Excellent analytical and problem-solving skills.
  • Ability to train and mentor employees on safety and security practices.
  • Strong knowledge of local, state & national OH&S regulations (wherever applicable).
  • Competence in using safety and security management software.

Work Environment:

This position requires a balance of office work and fieldwork, including site inspections and audits. It may also involve occasional travel to other company locations or for training purposes.
