Job summary

JLL is seeking an experienced Manager - Civil to lead civil engineering for industrial buildings and data centers in Guwahati. The role requires 10+ years of progressive civil design, site development, and project delivery experience, with a focus on fast-track and design-build approaches.

You will supervise a team, coordinate with multidisciplinary groups, ensure code compliance, and deliver high-quality designs while managing client expectations and project risk.

Qualifications

• 10+ years of civil engineering experience in industrial buildings and data center projects.
• Bachelor's degree in Civil Engineering; PE license required or to be obtained within 6 months.
• Proficiency in AutoCAD Civil 3D and site design tools; strong grading and drainage analysis knowledge.

Responsibilities

• Lead civil engineering design and construction for industrial and data center projects from concept to completion.
• Coordinate with structural, MEP and architectural teams for integrated delivery.
• Mentor and manage civil engineering staff across multiple projects.
• Serve as primary civil engineering contact for clients, regulators and contractors.
• Ensure quality control, manage risks to schedule and budget.

Manager - Civil

Position Overview

We are seeking an experienced Manager - Civil to lead civil engineering activities for industrial buildings and data center projects. The ideal candidate will bring 10+ years of progressive experience in civil design, site development, and project delivery within these specialized sectors.

Key Responsibilities

Project Leadership & Delivery

Lead civil engineering design and construction activities for industrial buildings and data center facilities from concept through completion. Manage site development, grading, drainage, utilities, and infrastructure design to support large-scale industrial and mission-critical facilities. Coordinate with multidisciplinary teams including structural, MEP, and architectural disciplines to ensure integrated project delivery.

Technical Expertise

Provide technical oversight for site layout optimization, grading and earthwork design, stormwater management systems, and utility infrastructure planning. Ensure compliance with local, state, and federal regulations including environmental permits, zoning requirements, and building codes. Review and approve civil engineering calculations, drawings, specifications, and technical reports.

Team Management

Supervise and mentor civil engineering team members including engineers and designers. Allocate resources effectively across multiple concurrent projects. Conduct performance evaluations and support professional development initiatives.

Client & Stakeholder Engagement

Serve as primary civil engineering point of contact for clients, consultants, contractors, and regulatory agencies. Present technical solutions and design recommendations to project stakeholders. Manage client expectations and build long-term relationships through exceptional service delivery.

Quality & Risk Management

Implement quality control procedures to ensure design accuracy and constructability. Identify and mitigate project risks related to civil scope, schedule, and budget. Conduct design reviews and technical audits to maintain high standards of work product.

Required Qualifications

• Experience Minimum 10 years of civil engineering experience with demonstrated expertise in industrial buildings and data center projects. Proven track record of managing complex site development and civil infrastructure projects from planning through construction. Experience with fast-track project delivery and design-build methodologies preferred.
• Education & Licensing Bachelor's degree in Civil Engineering or related field required. Professional Engineer (PE) license required or ability to obtain within 6 months. Advanced degree (Master's) is a plus.
• Technical Skills Proficiency in civil design software including AutoCAD Civil 3D, site design applications, and grading/drainage analysis tools. Strong knowledge of site development principles, stormwater management, utility design, and construction methodologies. Understanding of data center infrastructure requirements including power, cooling water systems, and fiber optic pathways.
• Core Competencies Excellent project management skills with ability to manage multiple projects simultaneously. Strong leadership capabilities with experience building and developing high-performing teams. Effective communication skills for technical presentations, report writing, and client interactions. Problem-solving mindset with ability to develop innovative solutions to complex site challenges.

Preferred Qualifications

• Deep experience with data center site requirements including redundant utility systems, backup generator infrastructure, and security considerations.
• Knowledge of sustainable design practices including LEED, green infrastructure, and low-impact development techniques.
• Experience working with hyperscale data center operators or large industrial clients.
• Familiarity with mission-critical facility standards and operational requirements.
