Job summary

Varaha ClimateAg seeks a dedicated Carbon Projects Manager to lead ARR/agroforestry carbon initiatives from design through validation. You will draft PDDs, shape project design, and guide assessments across permanence and additionality, coordinating with our science team.

The role demands strong analytical writing, stakeholder engagement, and a track record in nature-based carbon projects. You'll join a small, international team focused on scalable climate solutions.

Qualifications

• 3+ years experience managing nature-based carbon projects, including implementation and certification.
• Experience designing carbon offset projects and drafting PDDs for voluntary markets.
• Knowledge of global standards for voluntary markets and verification methodologies.
• Strong project management and implementation skills in sustainability.
• Proven ability to manage complex projects and teams.

Job Description

About the role :-

Varaha ClimateAg is seeking a highly motivated Carbon Projects Manager to manage carbon emissions reduction and removal projects focused on ARR/agroforestry. The position requires experience and interest in designing and managing carbon projects including the drafting of Project Design Documents (PDDs), technical project design, and guiding projects through the
validation and verification process. The position requires excellent analytical skills, strong writing skills, practical business thinking, and an understanding of social science methods. Prior experience development of carbon projects for Nature-based solutions is mandatory.

Responsibilities :-

• Lead the implementation of ARR/agroforestry carbon projects end-to-end
  Identify viable project opportunities and manage internal resources to finalise and execute projects.
  Prepare project idea notes (PINs), work on the assessment, design, and development of specific project design elements, such as e.g. permanence, additionality, or environmental impact assessment.
  Manage all ongoing projects documentation including monitoring plans, Project Design Documents (PDDs), and monitoring reports.
  Development and implementation of the processes needed for successful project development, such as public consultation process, data collection, and sampling in collaboration with the Science and Tech team.
  Manage due diligence, auditor queries, registry communication where needed along with contractual negotiations, and validation, verification.
  Understanding the methodologies available on the registries and developing projects based on that.

Qualifications :-

• 3+ years experience managing nature-based carbon projects, including implementation and certification.
  Experience designing and managing carbon offset projects, including the drafting of PDDs, for the voluntary carbon market.
  Knowledgeable in global standards/protocols/markets for Voluntary markets. Familiarity with carbon emissions reductions verification methodologies and standards.
  A demonstrated knack for Project Management and Implementation in the sustainability space
  Proven ability to manage complex projects and manage successful teams.
  History of collaboration with primary actors in the carbon sector, including implementers, technical advisors, and certification standards.
  Excellent verbal and written communication across a wide range of audiences.
