Job summary

Simpleenergy is seeking an Off-the-Shelf Components Lead to join the Strategic Sourcing team in Bengaluru. You will identify, validate, and manage commercially available components that go into our smart EV products, collaborating with design, procurement, quality, and manufacturing to meet technical, regulatory, and cost targets.

Qualifications

• Bachelor's or master's degree in engineering (Mechanical/Electrical/Electronics).
• 4–12 years in component engineering, product development, or technical sourcing.
• Strong understanding of off-the-shelf components across mechanical, electrical, and electronic domains.
• Experience with component databases, PLM systems and compliance tools.
• Excellent cross-functional collaboration and communication.
• Strong analytical, negotiation, and project management skills.
• Prior EV/auto/IoT/industrial product experience is a plus.
• Familiarity with design tools (Altium, SolidWorks, CAD).
• Knowledge of global supply chain and vendor ecosystems.
• Experience with quality, certification, and compliance bodies.

Responsibilities

• Lead the strategy and selection of off‑the‑shelf components (electrical, electronic, mechanical) for product development.
• Map supplier landscapes; run RFI/RFP/RFQ processes and qualification protocols.
• Drive 8–10% annual TCO savings; lead negotiations on terms, discounts and tooling investments.
• Support DFx, DFMEA and PFMEA; manage proto and mass production tool/fixture development.
• Build and maintain supplier relationships; ensure timely delivery of high‑quality components.
• Collaborate with NPD, Quality, Manufacturing, and Engineering to balance cost, manufacturability, and performance.
• Implement supplier risk assessments and monitor quality KPIs with continuous improvement plans.
• Maintain component databases, datasheets, and compliance documentation (RoHS, REACH, ISO).

Sourcing (Off-the-Shelf (OTS)

Location: Yelahanka, Bangalore

You Will

We are looking for a detail-oriented and technically proficient Off-the-Shelf (OTS - Suspension, RVM, Fasteners, Brakes etc.) Components Lead to join our Strategic Sourcing team. This role is critical in sourcing, validating, and managing commercially available components that go into our products. You will work closely with design, procurement, quality, and manufacturing teams to ensure that chosen components meet technical, commercial, and regulatory requirements.

To Be Successful, You Will Be Expected To

• Component Strategy & Selection: Identify, evaluate, and select optimal off-the-shelf components (electrical, electronic, mechanical) for product development based on performance, cost, availability, and lifecycle considerations.
• Supplier Identification & Qualification:
  • Map global and domestic supplier landscapes; lead RFI/RFP/RFQ processes.
  • Identification, Selection & Qualification of Supplier
  • Establish qualification protocols, audit plans, and scorecards to ensure supplier capabilities and compliance.
• Cost Management & Negotiation:
  • Drive Total Cost of Ownership (TCO) reduction initiatives—targeting 8–10% annual savings.

• Cross-Functional Collaboration:
  • Partner with NPD, Quality, Manufacturing, and Engineering to balance design for cost, manufacturability, and performance.
  • Fast-track prototype tool builds, pilot runs, and scale-up sourcing for high-volume launches.
• Risk & Quality Assurance:
  • Implement supplier risk assessments (financial, geo-political, capacity) and develop mitigation plans.
  • Set and monitor quality KPIs (PPM, defect trends, on-time delivery) with continuous improvement roadmaps.
• Documentation & Compliance:
  • Maintain component databases, datasheets, and compliance documentation (e.g., RoHS, REACH, UL, ISO standards).
  • Monitor component obsolescence, lead time risks, and suggest alternatives to reduce supply chain disruption.
• Tech Scouting & Innovation:
  • Stay updated with emerging technologies, component innovations, and market trends to inform design improvements.

Required Skills and Experience

• Bachelor’s or Master’s degree in Mechanical, Electrical, Electronics, or related engineering discipline.
• 4-12 years of experience in component engineering, product development, or technical sourcing in a hardware-focused environment.
• Strong understanding of OTS components across mechanical, electrical, and electronic domains.
• Experience with component databases, PLM systems, and compliance tools (e.g., Silicon Expert, Octo part, etc.).
• Excellent cross-functional collaboration and communication skills.
• Strong analytical, negotiation, and project management skills.
• Prior experience working with EV, automotive, IoT, consumer electronics, or industrial products is a plus.
• Familiarity with design tools (e.g., Altium, SolidWorks, CAD) and product development workflows.
• Knowledge of global supply chain and vendor ecosystems.
• Experience in working with quality, certification, and compliance bodies.
