About the MakerGhat Fellowship
The MakerGhat STEM Fellowship is a two-year leadership opportunity for passionate changemakers who are eager to contribute to STEM education and create meaningful learning opportunities for students.
As a Fellow, you will work closely with schools, teachers, and students to design and facilitate hands-on STEM learning experiences. You will also engage with local stakeholders and contribute to building a stronger culture of innovation and problem-solving.

Key Responsibilities
- Conduct regular STEM learning sessions (5 days/week) for the assigned schools.
- Design and implement hands-on STEM modules aligned with the state curriculum in their classrooms.
- Create engaging and inclusive learning experiences that encourage curiosity, creativity, problem-solving and experimentation.
2. Engage the Local Community
- Visit nearby communities to understand students’ social, educational and learning contexts.
- Encourage students to identify and explore real-world problems in their communities through STEM.
- Build positive relationships with parents, community members and other local stakeholders to strengthen program participation and support.
3. Mobilize and Mentor Local Stakeholders
- Build relationships with teachers, community members and other local stakeholders.
- Build local leadership and ownership around the program.
4. Drive Measurable Impact
- Track student learning, skill development and community engagement outcomes.
- Maintain program records and documentation.
- Monitor participation and implementation of STEM activities.
- Document stories of change, learning and innovation.
- Contribute to knowledge-sharing across the MakerGhat network.
5. Contribute to Systemic Change
- Liaise with local stakeholders including schools, teachers, panchayats, block officials and other relevant stakeholders.
- Understand local education and community contexts.
- Help bridge grassroots realities with wider education and innovation efforts.
- Represent MakerGhat professionally while working with schools and community stakeholders.

Eligibility Criteria
- 1–3 years of work/volunteer experience in education, community development, STEM or social innovation.
- Freshers with a strong interest in STEM, hands-on learning and community development are encouraged to apply.
- Graduation in any discipline. Engineering, Science, Education and Development Studies are preferred.
- Proficiency in Tamil and English
- Strong communication and facilitation skills.
- Willingness to travel and work in the assigned location within the district.
- Willingness to commit to the fellowship for two years.
- Prior experience with facilitation, tinkering, robotics, coding, or makerspaces is a bonus but not mandatory.
- A laptop is mandatory to work.
- A two-wheeler with a valid driving licence is preferred for easier travel to rural schools.
- Candidates selected from other districts must be willing to relocate to the assigned district.
