Job summary

THERMAX in India is seeking an experienced maintenance leader to own end-to-end maintenance for CBG plants, ensuring high availability and safety. You will plan preventive, predictive, and breakdown maintenance, supervise on-site teams and vendors, and drive reliability improvements across rotating equipment and utilities.

The role requires 8–12 years in process-plant maintenance, with 3–5 years in a similar position, and a strong grasp of safety standards, PM/CMC tools, and shutdown planning.

Qualifications

Responsibilities

• Develop and implement preventive, predictive, and breakdown maintenance plans for all plant equipment.
• Plan and execute planned shutdowns with Operations and Station Manager.
• Drive reliability improvements to increase MTBF/MTTR and plant availability.
• Lead maintenance technicians, contractors, and vendors on site.
• Ensure compliance with HSE standards: PTW, LOTO, JSA, confined space, hot work, electrical safety, PPE.
• Maintain statutory compliance for pressure vessels and electrical installations.
• Manage spares inventory, MTO, and procurement with central teams.
• Monitor AMC/CMC vendors and external service providers.
• Maintain maintenance MIS with KPIs and cost tracking.
• Drive TPM, Kaizen, and root-cause analysis of repeat failures.

Role purpose

Own the end-to-end maintenance function for the CBG plant(s), ensuring high equipment availability, reliability, and safety while aligning maintenance plans with production targets and corporate O&M standards.

Role & responsibilities

• Develop and implement preventive, predictive, and breakdown maintenance plans for all plant equipment (feedstock handling, digesters, gas purification, compression, utilities, civil, electrical, instrumentation).
• Plan and execute planned shutdowns and major maintenance activities in coordination with Operations and the Station Manager.
• Drive reliability improvement initiatives to reduce MTBF/MTTR and increase plant availability.
• Lead and supervise maintenance technicians, contractors, and vendors at site; ensure proper shift coverage for critical maintenance support.
• Ensure all maintenance activities comply with HSE standards: PTW, LOTO, JSA, confined space, work at height, hot work, electrical safety, and PPE.
• Maintain statutory compliance for pressure vessels, lifting equipment, electrical installations, and other regulated assets; support internal and external safety audits.
• Manage spares inventory, MTO, and min/max levels; coordinate with central Purchase and Engineering to procure critical and long-lead items.
• Evaluate and monitor performance of AMC/CMC vendors and external service providers.
• Maintain maintenance MIS: PM compliance, breakdown logs, MTBF/MTTR, backlog, and cost tracking; report maintenance KPIs and key issues to the Head of O&M and coordinate daily priorities with the Station Manager.
• Drive continuous improvement through TPM, Kaizen, and root-cause analysis of repeat failures.

Preferred candidate profile

• Diploma/B.E./B.Tech in Mechanical/Electrical Engineering.
• 8-12 years in maintenance of process plants (biogas/CBG, power, oil & gas, chemical, agro-based, or similar), with at least 3-5 years in a maintenance role.
• Hands-on experience with rotating equipment, compressors, boilers, pressure vessels, electrical systems, and basic instrumentation.
• Strong knowledge of preventive and breakdown maintenance, reliability concepts, and shutdown planning; familiarity with O&M manuals, maintenance software/CMMS (preferred), and MS Office for reporting.
• Understanding of relevant codes and standards (ASME, API, ISO, electrical codes, safety regulations).
• Strong safety mindset; good planning, coordination, and problem-solving skills; ability to work in a matrix structure, balancing functional (O&M Head) and site (Station Manager) priorities.
