Job summary

Kyndryl is seeking a Mainframe z/OS System Programmer SME to lead and deliver complex z/OS platform support for major clients in a dynamic, hybrid environment. Qualifications

• Minimum 9+ years of Mainframe z/OS Platform experience.
• Expertise in z/OS operating system, components, and upgrades.

The Role

As a Mainframe z/OS System Programmer SME at Kyndryl, you’ll solve complex problems and identify potential future issues across the spectrum of platforms and services. You’ll be at the forefront of new technology and modernization, working with some of our biggest clients – which means some of the biggest in the world.

There’s never a typical day as a Mainframe z/OS System Programmer at Kyndryl, because no two projects are alike. You’ll be managing systems data for clients and providing day‑to‑day solutions and security compliance. You’ll oversee a queue of assignments and work directly with technicians, prioritizing tickets to deliver the best solutions to our clients.

Roles & Responsibilities

• z/OS SME Lead is a technical leadership role, uniting and guiding Kyndryl technical teams, stakeholders from clients, governance, and project executives to delivery and even the vendors who work with the client.
• As a Lead SME, you’ll draw upon the full breadth of your talent and experience. This is a technical leadership role aligned with Kyndryl vision, mission, and values.
• Has to mentor people, support the ongoing /upcoming training programs – Reskilling, Upskilling, Cross skilling initiatives.
• Lead and deliver new/existing deal engagements. Act as a bridge between technical and management leadership team on Solution engagements.
• Identify & utilize new technological assets and solutions to drive innovation, modernization, automation, optimization, and efficiency.
• Lead skill building activities – including mentoring, identifying skill areas, gaps, assessments, planning, and execution.
• Liaise with System Programmers, Delivery Leaders, Client Partner Executives, SALs and Client.

Required Technical and Professional Expertise

• 9+ years of relevant experience in Mainframe zOS Platform support.
• Act as support and domain expert for z/OS operating system and system components; provide direct technical support as needed in the planning, coordination, installation, implementation and testing of releases, upgrades, or changes to z/OS operating system, network, and component software.
• License management for ISV products, Patch management for zOS
• Knowledge on SMP/E.
• Experience with ISV product upgrades.
• Primary support for assigned ISV products along with diagnose z/OS platform system and product issues and follow up with root cause analysis.

Preferred Technical and Professional Experience

• Bachelor’s degree in computer science or a related field.
• SME for MF ZOS system programming problem determination.
• Evaluate and recommend changes to current and future system software requirements to meet the organization’s needs.
• Troubleshoot Infrastructure and Application issues related to ZOS.
• Implementing and enforcing security policies on the z/OS system to protect sensitive data.
