Job summary

Tata Consultancy Services Ltd., Gurugram, is seeking a seasoned Mainframe Operations Specialist to monitor LPARS, respond to alerts, and troubleshoot complex issues in a multi-system environment. You will work with Remedy and Splunk, diagnose problems on IBM mainframe hardware, and coordinate with vendors for service calls.

The role requires hands-on experience with DB2, z/OS, JES, IOF/Sysview, TSO/ISPF, and knowledge of SYSplex, IPL processes, and HMC.

Qualifications

• Must have IT skills and familiarity with Remedy.
• Experience monitoring LPARS and responding to system alerts.
• Familiar with Splunk monitoring tool or equivalent.
• Demonstrated troubleshooting, diagnose and resolve problems.
• Familiar with IBM mainframe hardware – CEC, director, channel extender, DASD, tape.
• Familiar with DB2.
• Ability to interact with vendors – open/follow up on service calls.
• Ability to log in to multiple domains/systems.
• Basic scripting and running scripts/jobs; interpretation of scripts.
• Basic command line skills; navigate Remote Desktop sessions; multitask across environments.
• Familiarity with Windows and z/OS; Linux and z/VM preferred.
• Understanding of a Sysplex environment.
• Understanding of the IPL process and HMC.
• Understanding of JES including commands.
• Understanding IOF and Sysview or equivalent software to view outputs/logs.
• Understanding of the TSO/ISPF environment.
• Demonstrate ability to perform a stand-alone dump (SADump) or SVC console dump.
• Demonstrate ability to reply to WTORs.
