Kyndryl is seeking a Senior Mainframe IMS DBA SME to design, implement, and maintain IMS databases, ensuring peak performance and security. You will coordinate with IMS system programmers and application teams while managing backups, recovery, and high-availability strategies.

The role emphasizes hands-on DBRC administration, tuning, and data sharing in a large-scale z/OS environment, with a focus on reliability and operational excellence.

Qualifications

• 7+ years of experience as a Mainframe IMS DBA SME.
• Knowledge of security configurations, workload management, and automation scripting.
• Monitor system performance and availability, implementing necessary tuning.
• Perform system backups, recovery, and troubleshooting for IMS DBA issues.
• Hands-on expertise with DBRC and IMS utilities.
• Knowledge of z/OS storage and dataset management.

Responsibilities

Within our Mainframe IMS DBA team at Kyndryl, you'll be a master of managing and administering the backbone of our technological infrastructure. You'll be the architect of the system, shaping the base definition, structure, and documentation to ensure the long‑term success of our business operations. Your expertise will be crucial in configuring, installing and maintaining database management systems, ensuring that our systems are always running at peak performance. You'll also be responsible for managing user access, implementing the highest standards of security to protect our valuable data from unauthorized access, developing strong backup and recovery plans, supporting end users and application developers, implementing policies and procedures to safeguard our data, conducting capacity planning, and working closely with various teams to coordinate systematic database project plans.

Required Technical and Professional Expertise

• 7+ Years of experience as a Mainframe IMS DBA SME
• Knowledge of security configurations, workload management, and automation scripting

• Hands‑on expertise with DBRC and IMS utilities
• Knowledge of z/OS utilities
• Strong experience with IMS database structures and access methods
• Develop automation scripts for monitoring, alerting, and issue resolution
• Ensure security compliance and implement security best practices for IMS
• Design clustering and workload balancing for high availability
• Support on-call rotations for extended-hour coverage

Preferred Technical and Professional Experience

• Parallel Sysplex / IMS data sharing
