The role of the Sustainability Solutions Data Senior Analyst is to understand sustainability priorities and strategically collaborate closely with business domain experts to provide significant tangible business value through leading, developing and deploying scalable Data Engineering capabilities for high-value sustainability solutions. This is a great opportunity for someone to lead and facilitate bringing the appropriate technology, process, and solutions together as they contribute to enabling LYB’s long-term strategy on Renewable energy, CO2 reduction and delivering on circularity ambition.

Roles & Responsibilities

1. Develop a deep knowledge of the Sustainability area, including key driver sustainability goals, short- and long-term roadmaps, key projects, and personnel.
2. Lead innovative technology solutions development for renewable energy technologies and emerging sustainability trends such as carbon capture, circular economy, etc.
3. Investigate new and developing sustainability technologies and lead the project team to determine how to leverage these new technologies for projects.
4. Advise Sustainability SMEs and stakeholders in identifying ways to leverage data effectively; Lead the project team to deliver foundational data sets including both quantitative and qualitative elements.
5. Work with Sustainability stakeholders to identify areas of technical needs for future capabilities; Place emphasis on delivering value through data and solutions, through excellent problem solving, development, and implementation of scalable solutions.
6. Work collaboratively in delivering critical data driven solutions on high impact problems.
7. Lead efforts with architects and data engineers to design and develop data workflows and pipelines necessary; Leverage deep data engineering, architecture, advanced technologies, software development expertise, and code development standards to enable the delivery of advanced analytics projects.
8. Lead Data Engineers to design and develop code, scripts and data pipelines that leverage structured and unstructured data.
9. Work with architects and data engineers to define and develop technical platforms, frameworks, and applications; take lead to provide data, business intelligence, and information.
10. Manage Sustainability data sets using both internal and external systems.
11. Network internally and externally to build relationships that foster technology transfer and collaboration.
12. Mentor, train and develop of other team members.
13. Collaborate with other software developers, business analysts and architects to find solutions to achieve business aims.
14. Work together with other product teams to integrate Sustainability data into larger business data, systems, and decisions.
15. Take complex information and create a compelling story, including visualizations.
16. Develop tools and procedures for reporting to various internal and external audiences.
17. Contribute to the development of impact-focused, data-driven strategy for the Sustainability Team.
18. Stay current on LyondellBasell IT strategies and standards and influence customers in support of the strategies and standards.

Min. Qualifications

1. Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, Software Engineering, Computer Engineering, MIS, or related technical field.
2. Understanding of the ESG regulatory mandates in the different regions (US, Europe, APAC).
3. 4+ years professional hands on experience measurement and analysis, quantitative business problem solving, operations analysis, marketing analysis, simulation development and/or predictive analytics. Proficient in analytics software and applications.
4. 4+ years hands-on experience in leading complex/large scale data management projects.
5. 5+ years direct experience in Data, Data Analytics, data integration and visualization; experience creating data models, data blending, Database, Data Management, data warehouse and ETL design and development.
6. Experience in development on Azure Cloud (PaaS) Data Solutions.
7. Demonstrated ability to drive a project, and work both independently and in a team.
8. High level of enthusiasm and a love of data, software development, and data engineering.
9. Strong quantitative, data-intuition and problem-solving skills, including strong data and technical knowledge and skills.
10. Strong Analytical skills and proficiency in data analytics techniques required including presentation of data results.
11. Strong knowledge and proficiency in extraction and analysis of data from a wide variety of systems (e.g., SAP data, both ECC and HANA warehouses, as well as cloud systems), leveraging data analysis tools.
12. Expertise in creating dashboards/story framing for key metric reporting.
13. Experience working with large structured and/or unstructured data and technologies.
14. Specialty skills in large scale computing, cluster computing, and/or cloud computing (Azure preferably).
15. Experience with software development lifecycle and Agile methodologies.
16. Impeccable attention to detail and organization with strong problem-solving, prioritization, and time management skills.
17. Experience in developing analytic processes and procedures.
18. Creative problem-solving skills and advanced analytical skills with proven track record demonstrating an aptitude to analyze trends, compile data into comprehensive reports, and making recommendations based on findings.
19. Ability to multi-task with minimal supervision and superior decision-making, analytical and problem-solving abilities.
20. Ability to apply strong communication skills to resolve conflict professionally and routinely interact in cross-functional groups.

22. Familiar with various technologies and curiosity in learning new systems. Aptitude to learn technologies being introduced or developed within the company.

Preferred Qualifications

1. 3+ years of experience in Environmental and Sustainability programs.
2. 2+ years of experience in ESG/sustainability services with focus on corporate reporting and disclosures.
3. Experience with reporting and disclosure frameworks and understanding of important reporting standards and stakeholders.
4. Experience with GHG inventory/carbon accounting, emissions reduction strategies, renewable energy strategies, RECs and carbon offsets, and SBTs.
5. Interest and ability to think about future ESG trends and how they will impact present and future technology strategies and business.
6. Ability to work cross functionally to engage, track and advise on a broad set of ESG topics with related KPIs and deliverables.
7. Ability to identify and analyze ESG performance gaps, communicate the risk or opportunity, and develop technology solution reporting recommendations and advise on action plans.
8. Experience with ESG reporting standards and frameworks, e.g. SASB, GRI, TCFD, and experience producing ESG reporting and disclosures content for a global audience and different stakeholders.
9. 6+ years of experience building cloud-based data solutions, Azure preferred.
10. Experience in big data development on Hadoop or Spark frameworks using Python, Java, noSQL, TimeSeries DBs,HDFS; integration of data from multiple data sources.
11. Experience in working with reporting and visualization tools with PowerBI.
12. Experience building data management (metadata, lineage, tracking etc.) and governance solutions for modern data platforms.
13. Understanding of statistics and mathematical techniques to solve real business problems.
14. Strong programming and scripting skills in C#, C++, Java, Julia or Scala, JavaScript, and/or SQL programming and scripting skills.
15. Experience with Azure DevOps.
16. Experience with one or more of the following programming languages: .Net/.Net Core, Node.js, JSON, PHP, Perl, Python, Golang.
17. Background knowledge around cloud, IoT, blockchain and digital distributed ledgers.
