Job summary

Careernet is seeking a skilled Linux Administrator to support large-scale cloud infrastructure. You will implement IaC with Terraform and ARM Templates, automate with Ansible and Jenkins, and manage containers with Docker and Kubernetes.

Responsibilities include on-call support, infrastructure monitoring, and enabling smooth migrations to the cloud while maintaining security and performance standards.

Qualifications

• Must have strong Linux Administrator experience supporting large-scale cloud infra.
• Hands-on with Terraform and ARM Templates.
• Proficient with Ansible, Chef, Jenkins and Terraform.
• Experience with Docker and Kubernetes containers/orchestration.
• Solid Linux shell scripting, systemd, and OS troubleshooting.
• Knowledge of REST/JSON APIs and WebSockets.

Responsibilities

• Provide 24x7 operational support for Staples Cloud Infrastructure and on-call rotation.
• Implement infrastructure availability and performance monitoring for uptime.
• Automate OS/security patching and AKS/GKE upgrades.
• Drive PTO readiness for applications migrating to the cloud.
• Develop and promote knowledge management for Cloud Services.
• Collaborate with Cloud Engineers, SRE, Dev, Release Engineering, and DB teams.
• Support cloud migration impact on infra, networks, and security.
• Research and recommend solutions for cloud operational issues.

Key Skills:

Roles and Responsibilities:

• Provide 24x7 operational support for all Staples Cloud Infrastructure and participate in the on-call rotation.
• Implement infrastructure availability and performance monitoring to ensure platform uptime and performance.
• Automate OS/security patching, Azure Kubernetes Service (AKS), Google Kubernetes Engine (GKE) cluster upgrades, etc.
• Drive production readiness Permit to Operate (PTO) process for applications migrating into the public cloud.
• Develop, maintain, and promote a culture of continuous enhancement for a robust knowledge management system for the Cloud Services team and its partners.
• Collaborate with Cloud Engineers/Architects, SRE, Development, Release Engineering, and Database teams to support implementations into the cloud infrastructure.
• Support aspects of the cloud migration initiative, including its impact on infrastructure, networks, and security.
• Research, analyze, and recommend solutions for challenging cloud operational issues.
• Generate governance and compliance-related reports for management as needed.
• Work with Staples Incident/Problem Management and cloud providers to drive root cause analysis (RCA) for high-priority issues in a timely manner.

Skills Required:

• Must have strong experience as a Linux Administrator supporting large-scale cloud infrastructure environments.
• Must have hands-on experience with Infrastructure as Code tools such as Terraform and ARM Templates.
• Must be proficient in automation tools including Ansible, Chef, Jenkins, and Terraform.
• Must have experience working with containerization and orchestration tools such as Docker and Kubernetes.
• Must have strong Linux system-level knowledge including shell scripting, systemd, and OS-level troubleshooting.
• Must have working knowledge of API integrations using REST/JSON and WebSockets.
• Must have scripting experience using Bash and basic knowledge of Perl.
• Should have basic exposure to Kubernetes administration and cloud-native environments.
• Should possess AZ-104: Azure Administrator certification or equivalent practical experience.

Education:

Relevant degree in Computer Science or related field.
