Job summary

NEXWARE is seeking an experienced Liferay developer to design, develop, and maintain portal solutions in Bengaluru. The role emphasizes deep Liferay expertise (DXP/CE) and hands-on Java/J2EE development with REST/SOAP integrations.

The candidate will collaborate with stakeholders, mentor juniors, and ensure secure, scalable portal implementations across dev/test/prod environments.

Qualifications

• 5+ years of web development experience with 3+ years in Liferay (DXP/CE).
• Strong knowledge of Liferay platform capabilities, including Site and Page Management.
• Experience with Java/J2EE, Spring, Hibernate, and web services.
• Familiarity with Agile processes and JIRA/Confluence.

Responsibilities

• Collaborate with stakeholders to translate business needs into Liferay solutions.
• Design and develop portal components including themes, portlets, hooks, and service builder modules.
• Utilize Liferay capabilities to minimize customizations and ensure maintainability.
• Perform system integration with REST, SOAP, and other interfaces.
• Work with Organizations, Roles, Permissions, Workflow, User Management, Site Administration.
• Customize UI/UX using Freemarker, React, JSP, AlloyUI, and frontend templates.
• Optimize performance and scalability of Liferay implementations.
• Lead and mentor junior developers, participate in code reviews, enforce standards.
• Stay updated with latest Liferay versions, patches, security advisories.
• Troubleshoot and resolve issues across dev/test/prod environments.
• Ensure secure, accessible, high-performing portal applications.

Key Responsibilities:

• Utilize out-of-the-box capabilities of Liferay to minimize customizations and ensure maintainability.
• Perform system integration with external systems via REST, SOAP, and other interfaces.
• Work with Liferay-specific concepts like Organizations, Roles, Permissions, Workflow, User Management, and Site Administration.
• Customize the UI/UX using Liferay's frontend frameworks, templates, and theme development (Freemarker, React, JSP, AlloyUI, etc.).
• Optimize performance and scalability of Liferay implementations.
• Lead and mentor junior developers, participate in code reviews, and enforce coding standards and practices.
• Stay updated with the latest Liferay versions, patches, and security advisories.
• Troubleshoot and resolve technical issues across dev/test/prod environments.
• Ensure secure, accessible, and high-performing portal applications.

Required Skills & Experience:

• 5+ years of experience in web development with 3+ years specifically in Liferay (DXP/CE).
• Deep understanding of Liferay platform capabilities, including Site and Page Management, Assets, Workflows, and Staging.
• Experience in Java/J2EE, Spring Framework, Hibernate, and Web Services (REST/SOAP).
• Proficiency with Liferay frameworks: Service Builder, Portlet APIs, and Liferay-specific tag libraries.
• Frontend development skills with HTML5, CSS3, JavaScript, jQuery, React (optional), Freemarker, and JSP.
• Strong understanding of Liferay Permissions, Roles, and User Management.
• Experience in deploying and managing Liferay instances (Tomcat, Apache, or other containers).
• Hands‑on with CI/CD pipelines and version control systems like Git.
• Knowledge of databases (MySQL, Oracle, PostgreSQL) and Liferay's database schema.
• Familiarity with Agile development processes and tools (JIRA, Confluence).

Nice to Have:

• Liferay Certification(s)
• Experience with Liferay Cloud or Liferay PaaS environments
• Exposure to headless CMS or GraphQL-based implementations
• Knowledge of SSO, LDAP integration, or SAML for authentication
• Understanding of accessibility standards (WCAG) and SEO optimization within Liferay
