Job summary

Qualifications

• Minimum graduation in law (LLB) required; LLM or additional law certifications are an advantage.
• 2–5 years of experience in NBFC/Bank or law firm preferred.
• Familiarity with regulatory requirements and litigation processes.

Responsibilities

• Draft, vet and respond to legal notices, complaints and consumer matters within timelines.
• Conduct detailed legal research and advise on commercially practical actions.
• Collaborate with cross-functional teams and prepare MIS reports for stakeholders.
• Negotiate and mitigate legal risks; drive settlements to reduce legal cases.

Job description

Job Purpose

The incumbent will be part of Legal function addressing and attending to legal matters of the company with special focus in area of litigation. The incumbent shall be attending to legal related requirements, issues and queries in view of the laws and regulation applicable to the company.

Key Accountabilities

• The candidate shall be involved in the litigations for defending, managing and settling case against the company and attending to legal matters and legal opinions associated to NBFC business;
• Candidate shall be involved in vetting, drafting and framing of suitable pleadings, petitions, responses on the queries/concerns raised in the matters related to legal requirements by external entity;
• Queries/Concerns by external entity shall include: Legal notices, Complaints, Customer Grievances, Consumer matters, Regulatory queries, etc;
• NBFC-SI being a regulated entity, incumbent shall be required to deliver keeping in the view extant regulations issued by RBI and IRDAI;
• Attend to other legal requirements of the company on a need basis including drafting and vetting of contract, schedule visits to courts / tribunals.

Key Responsibilities

• Drafting reply to Legal Notices, Complaints, Customer Grievances, Consumer matters in consultation with respective stake holders/business within the agreed timelines;
• Detailed Research and Analysis on the matters of legal issues and advise the company in taking commercially practical and legally compliant actions;
• Collaboration with cross functions and teams and circulation of MIS and reports regularly to all stake holders/business;
• Involve in Negotiations and Mitigate legal risk for the company by taking timely and prudent measures;
• Drive settlement and resolution with the aggrieved customers/ third parties to reduce and prevent cases against the company under the policy framework.

Required Experience

• 2-5 years of experience in NBFC, Bank or a law firm

Required Qualification

• Minimum Graduate: LLB.
• LLM/masters or other certifications on law subjects can be an added advantage.
