Job summary

CarDekho Group is hiring a UI Designer Lead to build and scale a design system powering our consumer surfaces—search, discovery, listings, and transactions. You will raise the design bar across the team and mentor others, partnering with product and engineering to validate designs with data.

You will own governance of the system, drive component variants, and use AI to speed up handoff to engineering and documentation, across web, Android and iOS.

Qualifications

• 4-6 years of UI design experience, including building or scaling a design system.
• Experience designing for high-traffic B2C/e-commerce surfaces.
• Strong command of Figma, including tokens, variants, and component architecture.
• Experience using AI tools to speed up design production and documentation.
• Ability to ensure consistency across web and mobile platforms.
• Comfort using data (funnels, heatmaps, A/B results) to inform design decisions.
• Experience mentoring other designers.
• Prior experience in classifieds/auto/mobility products.
• Collaboration with design engineers/frontend teams on a component library.

CarDekho Group runs one of India's largest auto classifieds platforms, where millions of users search, compare, and buy/sell vehicles every month. We're hiring a UI Designer Lead to build and scale the design system powering our consumer surfaces for search & discovery, listing pages, and transaction flows, and to raise the design bar across the team.

What You'll Own

• Build a scalable, component-based design system from the ground up (or mature an existing one) across web, Android, and iOS
• Define tokens, patterns, and documentation that let designers and engineers ship consistent UI faster
• Own governance: what gets added to the system, versioning, and adoption across squads
• Use AI tools to scale design output - generating component variants, automating documentation, speeding up handoff to engineering, and reducing repetitive production work across the team
• Lead UI design for high-traffic surfaces across the classifieds funnel (search, listing detail, filters, buyer/seller flows)
• Set the visual and interaction quality bar for the team, reviewing and raising the level of others' work
• Partner with product and engineering leads to validate designs against usage data and iterate post-launch
• Mentor and review the work of other UI/product designers, including how they use AI in their own workflow
• Represent design in cross-functional planning, making the call on build-vs-reuse-from-system tradeoffs

What We Expect You to Bring

Must-Have

• 4-6 years of UI design experience, including direct experience building or scaling a design system
• Experience designing for B2C or e-commerce products at meaningful scale (high-traffic, conversion-driven surfaces)
• Strong command of Figma (or equivalent), including component architecture, variants, and design tokens
• Practical experience using AI tools (e.g., Figma AI, Midjourney, Claude, or similar) to speed up design production, ideation, or documentation
• Demonstrated ability to design consistently across web and mobile app platforms
• Comfort working with data - using funnel metrics, heatmaps, or A/B results to inform design and system decisions
• Experience reviewing or mentoring other designers, even informally
• Prior experience in classifieds, marketplace, or auto/mobility industry products
• Experience partnering directly with design engineers/frontend teams on a component library (e.g., Storybook)
• Experience setting up AI-assisted workflows or tooling for a design team (not just individual use)
