Job summary

Leidos in Pune, India is seeking a Lead Substation Physical Design Engineer to drive HV/MV substation layouts, grounding, plan-section drawings and protection/control schemes for medium to large utilities. You will lead bids and proposals, mentor junior engineers, interact with clients during site visits, and deliver high‑quality designs with rigorous QA/QC.

Qualifications

• 4+ years of prior relevant experience.
• Bachelor of Science Engineering discipline in Electrical, Mechanical, Civil or Industrial. Additional relevant experience may be considered in lieu of a degree.
• Leadership experience in executing substation projects
• Excellent communication skills and ability to interact with the internal team and clients to meet project needs.
• Ability to lead bids and proposal effort for utility clients
• Ability to perform quality control checks on substation design projects.
• Act as a supervisor for one to six direct reports
• Ability to read and design substation physical drawings such as one-line and three-line drawings, plan-section, grounding drawings
• Ability to read and design substation protection and control drawings such as AC/DC schematic drawings and wiring design
• Ability to create and check bill of materials for substation physical
• Contribute to development of substation physical application documents
• Experience with grounding studies/lightning protection and lighting studies
• Master’s degree preferred
• Experience with QA/QC
• Knowledge of protection and control design
• Experience with BUS calculations
• Experience with WinIGS or CDEGS
• Experience with SDS AutoCAD Electrical software.

As a Lead Substation Physical Design Engineer, you will be involved in:

• Experience with grounding studies/lightning protection and lighting studies.

Preferred Qualifications:

• Master’s degree in related field
• Experience with QA/QC
• Working knowledge of protection and control design
