Job summary

Leidos is seeking a Lead Substation Physical Design Engineer to join our team in Pune, India. You will lead HV/MV substation physical design, perform advanced studies, and oversee BOMs while engaging with clients to ensure project success.

You will mentor junior engineers, deliver technical presentations, and develop proposals to support utility clients, driving high-quality outcomes for a broad range of projects.

Qualifications

• 4+ years of prior relevant experience.
• Bachelor of Science Engineering in Electrical, Mechanical, Civil or Industrial.
• Leadership experience in executing substation projects.
• Excellent communication skills and ability to interact with internal teams and clients.
• Ability to lead bids and proposal efforts for utility clients.
• Ability to read and design substation drawings (one-line, three-line, plan-section, grounding).
• Experience with grounding studies/lightning protection and lighting studies.

What Sets You Apart (Background Requirements)

• 4+ years of prior relevant experience.
• Bachelor of Science Engineering discipline (Electrical, Mechanical, Civil or Industrial). Additional relevant experience may be considered in lieu of a degree.
• Leadership experience in executing substation projects
• Excellent communication skills and ability to interact with the internal team and clients to meet project needs.
• Ability to lead bids and proposal effort for utility clients
• Ability to perform quality control checks on substation design projects.
• Act as a supervisor for one to six direct reports
• Ability to read and design substation physical drawings such as one-line drawings, three-line drawings, plan-section drawings, foundation, grounding drawings.
• Ability to read and design substation protection and control drawings such as one-line drawings, three-line drawings, AC/DC schematic drawings and wiring design
• Ability to create and check bill of materials for substation physical
• Act as a key contributor to the development of substation physical application documents to define design scope, philosophies, methodologies, and criteria for medium and high-voltage substation projects.
• Experience with grounding studies/lightning protection and lighting studies.

Preferred Qualifications

• Master’s degree in related field
• Experience with QA/QC
• Working knowledge of protection and control design
• Experience with BUS calculations.
• Experience with WinIGS or CDEGS
• Experience with SDS AutoCAD Electrical software.
