Pearson is seeking a Lead Specialist, Network Engineer to design, implement, and support our enterprise network across locations. You will work with Cisco Meraki, Zscaler cloud security, and traditional routing and switching to modernize our network and enable Zero Trust architecture.
The role involves on-call rotation, travel to company locations, and collaboration with global teams to deliver secure, resilient connectivity and automated operational excellence.
Qualifications
- Bachelor's degree in Information Technology, Computer Science, Engineering, or equivalent work experience.
- 5+ years of enterprise network engineering experience.
- Strong hands-on experience with Cisco Meraki solutions (wireless, switching, MX).
- Experience configuring/troubleshooting Cisco routers, switches and ASA firewalls.
- Experience administering Zscaler platforms (ZIA, ZPA, ZTB, ZBA).
- Solid knowledge of TCP/IP, DNS, DHCP, VLANs, VPNs, and network security.
Responsibilities

- Manage and support Cisco Meraki environments (Meraki APs, MS Switching, MX).
- Configure and troubleshoot Cisco routers, switches, and ASA firewalls.

As a Network Engineer, you will play a key role in shaping the future of our network by helping to drive initiatives that improve connectivity, security, resiliency, and operational efficiency across the organization. We are seeking an experienced Network Engineer to design, implement, maintain, and support enterprise network infrastructure across multiple locations. The ideal candidate will possess strong technical knowledge of Cisco and Meraki networking technologies, cloud security platforms, routing and switching, and end-user connectivity troubleshooting. This role requires hands‑on experience with network design, deployment, and operational support, as well as the ability to travel to company locations as needed.
- Design, implement, and support enterprise LAN, WAN, wireless, and security infrastructure.
- Manage and support Cisco Meraki environments, including:
- Meraki Wireless Access Points
- Meraki MS Switching
- Meraki MX Security Appliances
- Configure, maintain, and troubleshoot Cisco networking equipment, including:
- Cisco Routers
- Cisco Catalyst Switches
- Cisco ASA Firewalls
- Administer and support Zscaler cloud security solutions, including:
- Zscaler Internet Access (ZIA)
- Zscaler Private Access (ZPA)
- Zero Trust Branch (ZTB)
- Zscaler Branch Architecture (ZBA)
- Implement and support Zero Trust networking architectures and secure access solutions for branch offices and remote users.
- Configure, optimize, and troubleshoot routing protocols, including:
- BGP
- EIGRP
- OSPF
- Perform network capacity planning, architecture reviews, and infrastructure design.
- Lead network installations, upgrades, migrations, and refresh projects.
- Troubleshoot network, wireless, routing, switching, VPN, and security-related issues.
- Diagnose and resolve connectivity and performance issues affecting:
- Windows clients
- macOS clients
- Coordinate network equipment procurement, asset lifecycle management, and vendor engagement.
- Work with service providers, vendors, and internal stakeholders to deliver network solutions.
- Create and maintain network diagrams, standards, operational procedures, and technical documentation.
- Participate in network incident response, root cause analysis, and problem management activities.
- Evaluate emerging technologies and provide recommendations that improve network performance, security, and operational efficiency.
- Support automation initiatives and continuously improve operational processes.
- Provide after-hours support and participate in an on-call rotation as required.

- Excellent interpersonal and communication skills.
- Ability to manage multiple priorities in a fast-paced environment.
- Cisco CCNA, CCNP, or equivalent certification.
- Cisco Meraki CMNA, ECMS, or related certifications.
- Zscaler certifications or experience with Zero Trust architectures.
- Experience with network automation and scripting using Python, PowerShell, APIs, or similar tools.
- Experience supporting cloud networking environments such as AWS or Azure.
- Familiarity with network monitoring, performance management, and troubleshooting tools.
- Experience supporting global or multi-site enterprise environments.
- Experience participating in network modernization and transformation initiatives.
- Ability to travel domestically and internationally as required.
