About The PositionThe solution architect role involves designing and overseeing the implementation of home-grown and commercial-off-the-shelf IT solutions using Microsoft Azure and their integration with various systems and applications. The role involves collaborating with stakeholders, evaluating technology options, and guiding development teams to deliver scalable, secure and efficient solutions.
Key Responsibilities
- Architectural Leadership
- Serve as the Azure Solution Architect with sector knowledge, setting direction and ensuring alignment with technical strategy.
- Uphold industry best practices and standards specific to the O&G sector.
- Technology Roadmap
- Construct and continuously update an Azure-focused technology roadmap.
- Explore and identify cutting‑edge Azure services to propel technological advancement.
- Solution Design
- Lead design and architecture of complex Azure solutions with focus on scalability, robust security, cost‑effectiveness and alignment with O&G industry demands.
- Stakeholder Engagement
- Work with engineering and business stakeholders to align Azure architectural strategies with business objectives.
- Communicate Azure technical strategies to non‑technical stakeholders.
- Mentorship and Guidance
- Provide Azure technical leadership and mentorship to solution squads.
- Cultivate an environment of innovation and continuous improvement.
- Compliance and Best Practices
- Guarantee Azure solutions meet regulatory demands and O&G‑specific standards.
- Risk Assessment
- Proactively identify and assess technical risks linked with Azure infrastructure and applications.
- Formulate and implement risk mitigation measures.
- Industry Expertise
- Stay informed about emerging technologies, trends, and standards in the oil and gas industry.
- Vendor Management
- Engage with external vendors to scrutinize third‑party offerings compatible with Azure.
Required Qualifications
- Master’s or Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, Engineering, or related field.
- 10–15+ years of experience as Solution Architect, preferably in oil and gas industry.
- Strong experience in Azure services and architecture, including IaaS, PaaS, SaaS.
- Advanced problem‑solving, strategic planning, communication, client engagement, innovation, leadership and mentorship skills.
Preferred Qualifications
- Relevant Microsoft Azure certifications (Azure Solutions Architect Expert, AZ900, AZ305).
- TOGAF, ArchiMate, Zachman or equivalent architecture framework experience.
- Experience in automation using Python, Gen AI, AI Ops, etc.
- Experience with data integration, data warehousing, big data technologies.
- Experience with containerization and orchestration tools (Docker, Kubernetes, AKS, GKE, etc.).
- Understanding of O&G sector operational workflows and compliance frameworks.
- Experience with CI/CD pipelines and automated testing frameworks.
