Job summary

Qualifications

• 7+ years of software engineering experience with Appian enterprise applications.
• Appian certification: Senior Developer (Level 2) minimum; Lead Developer (Level 3) a strong plus.
• Strong Java knowledge for Appian plug-in development.
• Experience leading or mentoring developers within a delivery team.
• BS in Computer Science or equivalent experience.

Responsibilities

• Lead the technical delivery of an Appian workstream from design to estimates.
• Design and build complex Appian components hands-on (SAIL interfaces, process models, records, APIs).
• Guide a team of Appian developers day-to-day: assign and review work, unblock issues, ensure design standards.
• Conduct code and design reviews; escalate to Principal Engineer.
• Monitor performance and optimize models and queries; resolve production issues.
• Collaborate with analysts and product owners to refine requirements and ensure designs meet business needs.
• Support release activities: packaging, deployment preparation, environment promotion.
• Mentor junior developers toward Appian certification and stronger design skills.

Key Deliverables (Duties and Responsibilities)

Lead the technical delivery of an Appian workstream: translate solution architecture into detailed designs, work breakdowns, and estimates.

Design and build complex Appian components hands-on: SAIL interfaces, process models, records, integrations, and web APIs.

Guide a team of Appian developers day to day: assign and review work, unblock technical issues, and ensure adherence to design standards and best practices.

Conduct code and design reviews within the team; elevate cross-workstream architecture decisions to the Principal Engineer.

Monitor and improve application performance: act on health check findings, optimize process models and queries, and resolve production issues.

Collaborate with business analysts and product owners to refine requirements and validate that designs meet business needs.

Support release activities: application packaging, deployment preparation, and environment promotion.

Mentor junior and mid-level developers toward Appian certification and stronger design skills.

• Appian certification required - Senior Developer (Level 2) minimum; Lead Developer (Level 3) a strong plus.
• Solid grasp of Appian performance best practices: process model design, query optimization, and health check remediation.
• Working Java knowledge for Appian plug-in development and custom components.
• Experience with relational databases (Oracle, MySQL, SQL Server) and data modeling for Appian records.
• Experience leading or mentoring developers within a delivery team: task planning, code reviews, and technical guidance.
• Familiarity with Appian deployment processes: application packaging, environment management, and CI/CD pipelines.
• BS in Computer Science or equivalent experience.
