Job summary

Waybeo Software Solutions Pvt Ltd in Trivandrum, India is seeking a Senior/Lead Software Engineer to anchor our core platform evolution. You will translate architectural visions into maintainable code, mentor junior engineers, enforce coding standards, and reduce technical debt within a high-throughput environment.

You will work hands-on, writing code, reviewing PRs, building automated pipelines, and driving daily engineering excellence in close alignment with leadership.

Qualifications

• 5+ years building backend systems in production.
• Proficient in Node.js/TypeScript and/or Go.
• Deep MySQL schema design and zero-downtime migrations.
• Experience with microservices, REST/gRPC APIs.
• Automated testing (unit/integration/E2E) and modern CI/CD.
• Strong documentation and asynchronous communication.
• Mentor junior developers in an office setting.

Responsibilities

• Own end-to-end ownership of core platform modules — code quality, maintainability, performance and documentation.
• Migrate legacy client setups into a modern microservices ecosystem with zero-downtime data migration.
• Enforce automated testing, code reviews, CI/CD pipelines and observability across the team.
• Pair-program with and guide junior engineers to improve debugging, design patterns and hygiene.
• Maintain system architecture diagrams, API specs and ADRs for asynchronous leadership alignment.
• Serve as the daily technical lead on the office floor and coordinate with leadership on technical decisions.

ABOUT THE ROLE

We are transforming our core platform from a legacy, high-volume environment into a modern, highly scalable polyglot microservices ecosystem. We run a high-throughput platform processing massive daily transactions and are actively executing a multi-tenant migration strategy.

We are looking for a hands‑on Senior / Lead Software Engineer to serve as our primary technical anchor on the office floor in Trivandrum. Working directly alongside our leadership team, you will translate strategic architectural visions into clean, maintainable code, mentor a growing team of junior engineers, enforce coding standards, and eliminate technical debt.

This is a hands‑on execution role — you will be writing code, reviewing PRs, building automated pipelines, and driving daily engineering excellence in close alignment with technical leadership.

KEY RESPONSIBILITIES

• Tactical Execution & Ownership: Take end‑to‑end operational ownership of core platform modules — code quality, maintainability, performance, and clear system documentation.
• Migration & Refactoring: Drive the hands‑on transition of legacy client setups into our modern microservices ecosystem (TypeScript, Go, MySQL) following approved architectural blueprints and zero‑downtime data migration strategies.
• Standards & Rigor: Eliminate anti‑patterns and hacks. Enforce automated testing (unit/integration), strict code reviews, CI/CD pipelines, and proper observability across the team.
• In‑Office Mentorship: Pair‑program with and guide junior engineers daily to level up their debugging skills, design pattern usage, and code hygiene.
• Documentation & Async Sync: Maintain detailed system architecture diagrams, API specs, and Architecture Decision Records (ADRs) to enable smooth asynchronous alignment with remote executive leadership.
• Floor Anchor: Serve as the daily technical lead and primary go‑to person on the office floor, keeping team velocity high while coordinating closely with leadership on key technical decisions.

REQUIRED QUALIFICATION

• 5+ years of hands‑on experience building, scaling, and maintaining backend systems in production environments.
• Strong proficiency in Node.js / TypeScript and/or Go.
• Deep expertise in relational databases (MySQL), schema design, index optimization, and safe, zero‑downtime data migration techniques.
• Demonstrated understanding of microservices architecture, design patterns, clean architecture, and API design (REST / gRPC).
• Hands‑on mindset toward automated testing (unit, integration, E2E) and modern CI/CD pipelines.
• Excellent written communication, with a habits‑first approach to documentation and asynchronous updates.
• Proven ability to mentor and guide junior developers effectively in an office setting.

• High‑throughput or real‑time event platforms (Kafka, SQS, WebSockets).
• Prior participation in a monolith‑to‑microservices migration.
