Lead Software Engineer (Full Stack, Java, AWS) – Location: Vashi, Navi Mumbai
Key Responsibilities
- Engineering Excellence – Enforce and evolve best engineering practices: clean, maintainable, testable code; strong code reviews (PR ownership and guardrails); CI/CD, automation, and observability; performance, scalability, and security best practices; event‑driven architecture; AI‑assisted development workflows; experience with high‑scale, client‑facing platforms.
- Technical Leadership & Delivery – Lead end‑to‑end design and delivery of scalable, high‑performance applications; develop and maintain live production systems and legacy applications; modernize platform while balancing business continuity and technical evolution; own system architecture decisions across frontend, backend, and data layers; drive full‑stack development with a strong focus on backend (Java) and modern frontend frameworks; ensure systems are resilient, observable, and production‑ready.
- Quality Ownership & Shift‑Left Mindset – Champion shift‑left engineering by embedding quality checks from design to production; enforce unit, integration, and automation testing; eliminate downstream QA dependency; foster a culture of accountability for production stability.
- Squad Leadership & Mentorship – Lead a squad of engineers providing technical guidance; set clear delivery, code quality, and ownership expectations; coach on design thinking, coding standards, and debugging.
- Product & Stakeholder Collaboration – Partner with Product Managers to translate business priorities into clear technical plans; drive clarity in requirements, scope, and trade‑offs; align business goals with engineering outcomes.
- AI‑Enabled Development – Leverage approved AI tools to improve productivity; guide responsible usage; focus on automation and acceleration, not shortcuts.
- Ownership & Accountability – Own end‑to‑end delivery; manage timelines, quality, and production stability; proactively identify risks; contribute to internal knowledge sharing.
Required Skills & Qualifications
- 7+ years of experience in software engineering.
- Bachelor’s or master’s degree in computer science, Information Technology, or a related field.
- Strong backend expertise in Java (Spring Boot, REST APIs, microservices architecture).
- Full‑stack development experience with modern frontend frameworks such as Vue or React (preferred).
- Deep understanding of databases (SQL/NoSQL), schema design, and performance tuning.
- Hands‑on experience with AWS cloud services (compute, storage, networking, observability).
- Strong grasp of system design, scalability, and distributed systems.
- Experience with CI/CD pipelines, DevOps practices, and monitoring tools.
- Proven ability to lead and mentor engineering teams.
- Strong sense of ownership and accountability; drive speed and quality.
- Clear, structured thinking and communication; bias for data‑driven decisions.
- Ability to operate in ambiguity and bring clarity.
