Job Summary

Level 5 engineers build on the foundation of Level 4 roles and may lead technical development on product, team, or domain levels. They can assume responsibility for overall technology delivery and application ownership, while continuing their own software engineering output.

Responsibilities

• Engineer stable, scalable, performant, accessible, testable, and secure software solutions using endorsed technologies.
• Apply common build patterns to minimise technical debt and adhere to group policies and release frameworks.
• Participate in code reviews and team ceremonies to understand work, plan, prioritise, and celebrate outcomes.
• Identify opportunities for reuse and automate repetitive manual tasks.
• Engage with technical communities to advance shared capabilities and explore new technologies.
• Promote application custodianship by participating in incident root‑cause analysis and governing technical assets.
• Mentor junior engineers, sharing knowledge and supporting professional growth.
• Continuously develop technical and agile skills through learning, feedback, and reflection.
• Write clean, efficient, well‑documented code independently.
• Apply DevOps principles and quality assurance approaches, using tools for automation, performance testing, regression, and debugging.
• Demonstrate deep system‑design knowledge and act as domain subject‑matter expert.
• Communicate effectively with stakeholders to understand requirements, provide updates, and align on progress.
